1991 Alfa Romeo Spider Veloce. Good solid running and driving car. I'm an Alfa guy - this is my 5th Spider and I know my way around them well. Overall this is a very solid driver that could use someone to take it to the level cosmetically if they so choose.
It has a lot going well for it but of course has some minor negatives associated with an older car and is priced as such.
This has been a 3rd car for our family. Been garaged. I've done a lot to the car in the 4 years I've owned it. New battery, all new belts and hoses, fresh fluids, new fuel and air filters, new leather shifting boot, new motor and trans mounts (poly insert), plugs and rotor tune up, new drain hoses under dash, new oil sender, new starter relay - the usual maintenance like head retorque and valves adjusted. I have records of all parts purchased.
The positives:1) car drives great and stops great. No second gear crunch even.2) paint is good - 7.5 out 10 - could use a coat of wax3) top is unfaded and functions and leak free4) no exterior rust on car body5) power windows work well6) engine is strong and doesn't leak (not anything significant) or burn oil7) no air bag or Check engine lights8) tires are good - 75% front and 50% rear tread remaining9) has no drivability issues
Negatives:1) speedo and tach inoperable 2) fuel tank gauge inoperable (never looked into 1 or 2)3) accessories inop like heater blower, cig lighter, Power mirrors (many of these I have left disconnected)4) rust in spare tire well, under passenger seat and on wiper cowling5) clutch master cylinder beginning to weep (I have brand new slave, master cylinder and hose to replace)6) trans leaks a bit7) paint has some scratches, dents on hood from engine8) top has repaired cut on side and cracked window in upper corner9) AC inoperable
Overall, the car is solid and drives great - I cannot overstate this. Car was repainted professionally in past in a black with fine metallic flake. Comes with factory workshop manual (300 page book) and new Alfa Owners Bible and tons of spare and extra Alfa parts. Has a Pioneer head unit that works and plays CD's. Comes with engine guard too. Pininfarina emblem missing on one side. Driver side front bumper is loose from one bracket - maybe a parking lot mishap. Some minor dashCracks near defrost vents.
I don't know actual mileage of car but previous owner said odometer went out after he bought car. I'd estimate mileage as about 75, 000 based on my knowledge and strength of drivetrain. The engine is strong and does not burn oil. Really, it's about the strongest engine I've had in any Spider. Take that for what it's worth. If you look at the title check you'll see the odometer discrepancy which I disclosed at my purchase. This is not a salvage car. You have to make an educated guess as to actual mileage based on these reports.
17 inch TSW rims with wider tires. Leather on actual steering wheel is a bit rough and has leatherette cover on it. Some fogging in one corner of windshield. Windshield washer doesn't work (I believe line has a hole in it).
I'm an honest guy - not a car flipper. I don't play dumb or feign ignorance. This is an old car but the good far outweighs the bad as it is a really strong driver. It's a southern car. The car came from Florida to Virginia to South Carolina - rust is related to water damage of water draining into car from a misaligned rear cowling drain hose and an aftermarket radio antenna.
If you can weld or have some electrical knowledge (I believe someone fiddled with fuse box to install air horns/security system and this caused problems w fuel gauge and speedo/tach/fuel - I have never tried to fix these), you can have a nice car. Re-dye the interior panels with SEM (I have some to give buyer) and replace top, and truly, this car would really look nice. The rust on the cowling - this is a removable and replaceable part shared by all Spiders. Find a good one and you're in business. Or remove and fix.
I am just at a phase in life where I cannot work on a car let alone drive it enough. It's a great car - any questions please ask and we can talk on phone. I'm a knowledgeable Alfa guy and familiar with these cars. I'd sell this one to a friend as a good solid driver.
Comes w original and spare keys. I don't have keys for the door locks. You can drive this car home. Look at pics closely - they say more than I can here. I haven't not forgotten anything major but it's always good to ask if you have questions.
