I just acquired this 1991 Volvo 240 with only just shy of 143k miles. Only selling shortly after acquiring because while I do have a love for old Volvo's I just got a new car and don't need the extra vehicle and realized I just don't have time to fully restore it.
While it does have some quirks it appears to be mechanically sound. I don't claim to know everything that may be wrong with it but I will try and explain everything to the best of my knowledge:
The good- drives straight, good tires, AC blows cold, power windows all work, hand crank sunroof functional, at 141, 500 miles had- new brakes, muffler and oil change ($400), just had the windows tinted ($200), clean title, service records.
The not so good- the paint on the roof is oxidized and there are scratches on the hood and driver's side quarter panel which may not be entirely visible in the pictures, I took stickers off the back with some residue left near the license plate, one small spot of rust on bottom of rear window (see pictures), radio works but is static at times through the speakers, power antenna does not work, SRS light is illuminated, service light is illuminated but turns off after the car has been running, bulb failure light is illuminated but bulb failure relay was just replaced ($60) and all headlights, turn signals appear to be functional except for one passengers rear taillight, there is a small hole in passengers seat otherwise interior is in very good condition, there are several cracks in the dash, the center console plastic between the seats is cracked and fixed with tape, I have 3/4 hub caps.
You are responsible for local pick up or shipping arrangements. Vehicle is also for sale locally so auction could end early.
