Two owner vehicle - I bought it from the original owner in 2000 and have driven the car year-round ever since. Accordingly it has experienced the best and worst of Michigan weather. On two occasions I opted to have body work to replace body parts that had rusted. These were under the doors and around the front wheels. Some rust is now developing around the rear wheel, as is evident in some of the pictures.
I have also had body work done twice as a result of low speed fender benders - other cars struck me, but I guess that doesn't matter to you! Just a matter of pride.
Within a couple years of purchasing the car I had the plastic rear window replaced and all of the carpeting replaced. The carpeting and the rear window are still in excellent condition. The replacement rear window is a nautical plastic that stays transparent and resists scratching.
The rest of the soft top is original equipment, and probably ought to be replaced at some point. It doesn't leak, except right over the two side windows it leaks sometimes.
The original cassette deck died a long time ago and I have replaced it with an Alpine CD player with bluetooth and AM/FM radio, probably about 5 years ago. If you buy my car you can have the radio.
The speakers in the doors and the headrests were replaced years ago (15 years?)
The original wheels died a long time ago. They were corroding and couldn't hold the air in the tires. So the car has replacement wheels. The current tires (Falken) were purchased seven years ago and probably should be replaced soon.
I had the timing chain and oil drain pan replaced recently, and I got a new radiator last year. I replaced the clutch in 2016 and the front sway bars and brake calipers in 2015. Rear sway bars, coils and struts were serviced in 2013.
I've had oil changes performed very frequently, and tuneups at 60, 000 and 120, 000 miles. So it will be due for the next tuneup in just over 20, 000 miles.
I've got a whole history of service and repairs going back to 2000, and will be glad to share it with the buyer or a prospective buyer.
There is a spare tire, which occupies about 30% of the trunk. Tiny trunk, but you know that if you're thinking of buying a Miata.
Some other known defects, for painfully full disclosure: The air bag light is blinking, which I assume means the air bag is not going to work. The engine idles fast (about 1.2K RPM), unless the heater/AC fan is turned on position 2. If the fan is on 2, the engine will idle about about 800 RPM, after it's warmed up. I have not investigated this with a mechanic as yet (afraid he/she will tell me it will cost thousands of dollars to fix)The antenna is bent a little bit, so it won't retract the whole way.The side view mirrors cannot be moved with the remote control mechanism. I don't know what the problem is. But they are manually adjustable.The useless little cab light on the drivers side doesn't work. (Maybe it's burned out! It just occurred to me that I've never checked.) The one on the passenger side works fine.The seem on the left-hand side of the driver's seat has worn out, so some of the seat stuffing is visible. You can see that in one of the pictures.Some of the plastic coating on the wood dashboard paneling has come off.Otherwise, the car is great! It starts fine, and goes zoom zoom zoom when you press the gas; it accelerates acceptably fast. It averages just under 25 MPG. The headlights flip up and down as appropriate, and they shine brightly. The turn signals work, the clutch is fine, the brakes are good (not ABS be advised). The air conditioner and the heater both are in excellent condition. Cruise control works like a charm.
