The Facts:
1994 Defender 90 NAS Spec. I have owned this vehicle for 12 years and it is time to either truly restore it or sell it and let someone else build their dream Defender 90. My intentions were to complete an LS engine swap, replace the interior and give it a beautiful paint job. You can do all of these items for about $25, 000 based on my research. A fully restored defender with a desireable engine for increased reliability with the right paint and interior can go for somewhere in the mid to high 50's and even 60's. They are a great vehicle for either the active outdoors person or a family vehicle for the weekends. I have had an absolute blast owning this vehicle and I am sad to let it go but it's time. I have two kids under 4 and just don't have the time to give it the restoration it deserves and needs.
The vehicle has an Land Rover Engine that needs to be either rebuilt or swapped. It has a 5 speed manual transmission. Clutch was replaced less than 2, 000 miles ago. Both the front and rear axels were also rebuilt within the last 5, 000 miles. All of this work was done at a local Land Rover dealer. It has an ARB rear locker and compressor. This vehicle has MTR tires with a ton of tread left on them.
The Good:
This is a great vehicle to build your perfect Defender 90 to your specifications. It has great bones and simply needs a power plant and TLC on the interior and exterior. These are truly the best off road vehicles ever built and this one has the right equipment to take you on your adventures. It has an ARB bull guard with a winch set-up, ARB rear locker with compressor, Safari Guard rock sliders and the safari roll cage. It also has a full soft top from Rovers North that is in great condition and was purchased four years ago.
What it Needs:
A engine rebuild or swap, new interior, new paint on the exterior and if you wanted to do it right, I would have the car re-wired. Lucas electric isn't known for being the best or the most reliable. There could be more smaller items that it needs but these are the primary ones.
