You are bidding on a beautiful 1995 Mercedes Benz 500SL Roadster. She is painted in the very desirable combination of white over gray cladding.
We purchased the car last year and the previous owner attempted to paint the plastic cladding white to match the upper portion of the car. Unfortunately, they did not prep the plastic properly and the painf summarily chipped. It looked awful. This is how we acquired the car. Therefore we removed the classing, prepped it properly (etching primer, proper sanding) and repainted it a sharp grayish/silver color. As you can see my the pictures, she looks awesome.
Adding to the appeal is the addition of 20 MG rims. These are real AMG rims and not aftermarket fakes. The ride is slightly more firm but the handling is more crisp and predictable. The tires, while used, are in fine condition.
The interior is truly mint and the wood shows now signs of fading, chipping or scratching.
She drives beautifully, shifts perfectly and stops as designed.
We repaired one of the pistons on the automatic roof. It seems that all R129 roadsters eventually develop a leaking roof (the pistons). Knowing this we ordered a new piston and repaired it. She now operates perfectly. no leaks no issues.
The hard top is a matching white color and in great condition. The convertible top is dark blue and the rear plastic windows show no yellowing nor damage. In fact, the top is in truly excellent condition, perfectly in keeping with the mileage of the car.
We buffed the car and the shine is impressive - as the pictures demonstrate.
The carpet and seats are in excellent shape with no fading nor damage of any type.
The R129 Mercedes 500SL Roadster is coming into it's own in value and collectibility. She is especially attractive with the top down.
The mileage is low, the condition - excellent and her road manners are impressive. Truly a collectible to own. Blue chip!!
