I purchased this car approximately 2 years ago in New Jersey as a fun date night car, as I have owned Z's prior to this one as well. The car has served its purpose quite well. She's a blast to drive. The car is a 1997 BMW Z3 1.9L 4cyl roadster. The interior carpeting and upholstery were all replaced in 2014 as well as the soft top. Also completed in 2014 were new front control arms and bushings, new brakes, new brake lines, a cat back silverline exhaust system, new projection HID headlights, frost over ruby taillights, 4 brand new tires, an alpine head unit and cd changer and finally, most recently, I removed the center console between the headrests and replaced it with a custom speaker enclosure that houses two 6x9 Kenwood speakers since the original equipment for the car was four small speakers all located in the front.
The bad: The only other things to add is that the previous owner shaved the antenna off to give it a more streamlined look but he probably could've sanded it down a little better. The front bumper I replaced because there was a crack in the original bumper under the pass headlight (I have photos of such prior to it being replaced). The fan switch only works on the highest setting for a/c and heat. The car could probably use the most minor alignment (barely noticeable). The interior door oh shit handles could be replaced.
That's it for the bad. Not really bad at all considering it's 20 years old! It truly does drive and show very well. The last thing to add is that the cars factory color is BMW racing green. Owning an automotive tint/detail/plasti dip shop, I opted to change the cars color quite frequent using a plasti dip system. The current color is gunmetal gray, but only because I was going to use that as a base for a pearlized merlot topcoat that I simply haven't had the time to apply, due to our recent news. As with all plasti dip, it is completely peelable and removeable should you want to go back to the cars original coloring. Oh and I almost forgot, the car has never seen a drop of rain or inclement weather since I've owned it. Always garage kept.
