Since March 2017, we have had this car in Southern Vermont and we bought the car from the second owner who lived in Beacon Hill in Boston. This is a car that's ideal for snow (which is why we bought it for Vermont when we moved here from south of Boston) or someone who loves a manual. It rides so quietly and smoothly and I could tell the previous owners have maintained the car well. We were going to live in Vermont for a while (which is why we got an AWD Subaru) but our life plans changed and we're moving overseas. Ok now to the things that you care more about...
In the past 7 months, here was the work done (kept all receipts that adds up to over $5k and I lost one major receipt but can get a copy):- New alternator (Sept)- New water pump (Sept)- Timing belt (Sept)- New Exhaust ( end of June)- Replaced front struts (April)- New bearings (Feb)- Radiator hoses (Feb)- New battery (Jan)- New headgaskets (can't find receipt but can get copy from mechanic if you want)- Replaced rear gas struts (Feb)- Replace and bleed brake fluid (Feb)- Regular oil changes and tire rotations
December 2016: $2k worth of work (have receipts on this but not other work before this)front brakes/rear brakes, exhaust (rotors done)
Things for you to know: A/C, heat of course works. All of our work was preventative--we didn't have anything actually damaged. There is some rust over the top of a tire which I took a photo of and the driver's window plastic thing is not there but you can still close the window easily--this is minor stuff but I want to write about anything odd. We have 2 remote keys and two engine keys. Security of the car works well.
The car was just 2 weeks ago starting to overheat but didn't go into any danger zone--we pulled over right away and learned that was why we needed to replace the water pump which had a small leak but it was enough for me to replace. That was our recent $1000 job. Things like this we fix immediately which is why we have all these jobs listed.
So we bought it for 3.6k, put in well over 5k and are asking for 4.8k.
I'll add a few other major things done that I may have left out. Both my Dover, MA mechanic and my Bellows Falls VT mechanic are impressed by the work on this car. Now the car should have another 60k or more left on it since all major work should be done. I'd always advise someone to feel good about a car and have their mechanic look at it and see this is a good solid, reliable car. Local pickup only please.
Happy to answer any questions you have. Bonus points if you know where the primary photo was parked (hint local cheese spot!) Will share a video soon so you can hear how the car sounds. Also this particular one was made in the US.
