Description:

2000 Saab 9-3 Viggen, Lightening Blue 5-door, 85, XXX original miles. VIN# YS3DP55G8Y7013638
History:
Purchased new by Kathleen in Boulder, Colorado. I’ve spoken with her , and she indicated she always changed the oil at 3k with Mobil1. I do not have the service records during this period. Sold to Paul in Boulder around November, 2013 with about 69, 700 miles. Paul’s a Saab guy, with 4 Saabs at the time. He spent about $2, 800 with EOS Motorsports having them go through the vehicle and tune/refine as needed. He also added the Genuine Saab’s Poly Motor Mount, Steering Brace, Tower Brace, Rear Sway Bar. I have these service records and spoke to EOS before shipping the car to me. Paul indicated he really wanted the Viggen convertible, which was the reason for the sale. I purchased in March, 2014 with about 69, 9XX miles. Since then I’ve performed the following:
· Added refinished Aero/Vector wheels with new Continental DWS tires. Dark gray Plastic lug caps.
· Moog Poly Inner Tie-Rod Bushings (erroneously ordered two sets, changed out about 600 miles ago, and the previous set showed a little wear)
· Rear Hatch Triangle Genuine Saab Brace
· Genuine Saab 6-Point Subframe Brace
· New replica Viggen badges
· Eibach Springs with Bilstein shocks in the rear, and Koni adjustable in the front. I was going to go with Bilstiens all around, but the Konis were recommended for the front due to adjustability. I considered changing the rears out since, but I believe I’ve adjusted the fronts to work very well with the rears. Stock springs come with the purchase. Right stanchion-arm bolt stripped the frame-nut during install, replaced by same grade longer bolt with locking nut through passenger floor.
· Genuine Saab Control Arms with Poly Bushings
· Genuine Saab rear shims to reduce rear camber due to the “Saab Sag” (last alignment showed -1.4 L, -0.8 R)
· Genuine Saab open air intake
· 15mm & 20mm Forged Spacers with Black bolts (not captured in pictures)
· Genuine Saab leather parking brake boot. Adjusted parking brake tension, which easily adjusted.
· I removed the door trim stickers. I was going to replace but found they were painted and like the look.
· Pixels repaired, all bulbs not-working replaced (have spares)
· New windshield to replace the several year-old pitted one. Cabin filter changed at same time.
· Storage cubby in place of ashtray (ashtray comes with car, doesn’t appear to have ever been used)
· New OEM floor mats
· Short Antenna from a 2006 VW
· New brakes about 1k miles ago, Stoptech slotted rotors all around with Akenebo pads. Brake Fluid flush at the same time.
· Homelink & Compass rear-view mirror
· Bluetooth Audio receiver (connects to stock head unit, push CD player twice to activate) & New OEM front left door speaker.
· Car has been programmed to allow fog lights on with headlights off & the temp gauge to allow more accurate movement (barely noticeable change)
· Front seat bottom cushion swap (to reduce the very minimal driver’s wear) – Seats treated regularly with Leather Honey. The seats you see don’t have shoe polish or additional dye. They really are in that great of shape!
· Replica grill with Mesh (seen in picture with Engine). OEM grill included.
· Oil change every 3k miles or less, Mobil1 0W40
Car currently has 85, XXX miles and is rotated about every other day with my Cayman for commuting. This is a great car, but even with all of the performance improvements, it still handles about as good as a modern-day Corolla. This car shines with that 3rd-gear torque which leaves many cars behind! I’m selling because I need another automatic in the fleet, and as much as I enjoy this car, I choose the Cayman to keep as the third car (which I’ve owned for 9 years).
As we Saab enthusiasts like to over-disclose, here’s everything I can think of that’s either wrong or could use refinement if you’re particularly particular:
· I don’t think the driver’s side mirror defrost works
· There’s a minor shimmy between 60-70 mph. It’s glass outside of those speeds.
· Front strut caps show a little play, they are originals, and should have been changed with the suspension work, but I foolishly thought they were fine. No tearing seen, but I’ve seen other Viggens with less play.
· Light wipers work, and usually but don’t always seat perfectly.
· Power steering very minor leak from reservoir. By minor I mean I find a drop at random times and have topped off twice since owning
· The valve-cover plug has a very minor seep. The car does not burn oil, I’ve never needed to add between oil changes
· The AC clutch will slip after a few minutes of speeds above 85mph. I had this checked out shortly after taking ownership. All levels and pressures are great, it’s just the clutch that engages the compressor. Keep in mind this is my daily driver and it’s over 100 degrees here during Texas summers. It’s never had problems until I break the highest of TX speed limits. I usually have the fan on the 3rd setting and the air is ice cold. It's had the same behavior since purchasing.
· There are minor dings as would be expected, and a scratch or two. I've clayed this car once, waxed several. This is the cleanest looking Viggen I’ve seen, always garaged. Not one spec of rust anywhere!
That’s all I can think of. Two keys with remotes, original window sticker and features CD. A lot of money and time has been put into this car to get it where it is, and It’s made it more enjoyable for me. I figure the next owner will put a few more dollars to refine the areas above if needed, use it as is, or store (which most people stated I should due to its rarity). Test drives welcome in McKinney TX.
Shipping at the buyers expense. Also listed locally.
