You have found a gorgeous example of a final model of the Cadillac Eldorado. 1995-2002 were the last version of the car and final design of the name-plate dating back to 1952. These 2001's are now considered a 'classic' so they are allowed to be registered and insured as such, there are many cost saving benefits to that. This car is not 'perfect' as you can assume but it is very nice and aside from the dealer installed cosmetic options that add up to nearly $7000 including the top, wheels and 24k gold package. The car has no aftermarket electronics or 'performance' parts which is exactly how you want to find one. This is a two owner car, Autocheck is clean and shows 4 owners but that is due to the previous owner moving and a new title recorded. The history of the car scores off the top of the charts. This Eldo's Cashmere Metallic color is just mesmerizing in the sun and the top, along with the gold and chrome really set it off. The car is complete with all keys, mats, cargo net, spare, jack, owners books and a copy of the original window sticker. Please take the time to review the nearly 100 full sized, high resolution photos below where you can see that the car is very clean. There are several photos of the suspension and undercarriage that prove the car is corrosion free and has never been damaged.
The body of the car is nice and straight, paint is shiny and glossy with no major dings, dents or scratches. As to be expected, there are a few chips up front and a few minor blemishes but the car looks every bit as good in person as it does in photos. The Phaeton top shows minimal aging and is in really nice original condition. Glass is all original and the windshield is clean and clear but has about a 4 crack on the passenger side outer edge. I did not want to replace it as it is original, if you wish to have it redone I will split the cost of a new one with you ($225). Sides and rears have a light tint on them that is faded and shows some peeling, still alright for visibility but the car would look incredible with a nice, new tint job. Tires are brand new at all four corners and were purchased at Discount Tire so if there are any issues down the road they will be easily serviced. Vogue wheels are beautiful and they are in great shape. Power antenna is functional but the 'soft close' feature on the trunklid does not function, I am including the repair kit with the car.
The interior is very nice and there are no tobacco or musty odors present. The driver's seat shows just minimal, honest wear for the miles, nice shape. All the other seating appears to be in excellent shape, rears unlikely used. Dash pad is impeccable, MOST of these Eldorado's, especially warm weather cars have serious warping and the center vent doesn't even remotely fit anymore but this car was obviously garage kept, no heat damage anywhere inside or out. The ashtray door motions open and close but does not latch, it is in the open position as you can see in photos. Headliner and visors are excellent and even the vanity lights are functional. You will notice to the left of the center vents in the dash there is a magnetic cell phone holder. It is attached with two-sided tape so it can be easily removed if you do not need it. Power seats and all other power options appear to be in good working order. I did not test a cassette or CD but the audio system sounds good on the FM dial.
Mechanically the car is sound. The engine starts up promptly and is smooth as it is powerful. The car holds the road nicely and is a real pleasure to drive. There is a little oil seepage present underneath as you will find on any 20yr old V8, but it does not lose much oil, if any. A/C blows cold and all exterior lighting is functional including the fog lamps. Suspension feels good, rear air shocks feel proper. Fluids are clean and at the correct levels and the car has never had anything but the correct Dexcool coolant as I can see, that is very important on these cars. If someone tries to sell you a 2000 year model or newer Northstar engine and it has green coolant in it, run away from it as quickly as possible, that damages the integrity of the alloys in the engine. Also worth mentioning, the car has not exhibited any overheating issues and there are no 'check engine' lights on in the dash.
So, whats a completely corrosion free, garage kept classic Eldorado worth? Well, look around. Dealers are asking between $10, 000 and $15, 000 for cars that have the same or more miles and very few of them have $7k in extras or are ESC models. Remember, the 2000-2002 Northstar engines are much better than the 99 and down versions. Against my better judgement, I am putting my trust in the community that this car does the $11k plus dollar figure it is worth but the highest bidder at the conclusion of this seven day auction will be an owner regardless of profit or loss.
