Description:

This car is all about performance and driving. It sounds fast, it looks fast and exotic, and it handles great. It's extremely fun to drive. I think Edmunds put it best:
With its quick reflexes, remarkable grip and laser-sharp steering, the Elise delivers a truly unique driving experience. If you want the purest, most focused driving experience you can buy, the Elise is the ticket.Or as I like to put it, it's exactly as fun as it looks. People will wave, honk, ask how fast it goes, etc.
I bought this for myself new on my 35th birthday, in December 2005. There weren't a lot of options to choose from. I went with a metallic grey paint, the touring package, and the Star Shield anti-chip paint coating. The touring package consists of power windows, leather seats, sound dampening, carpet (approximately 2.5 square feet), and MP3 functionality on the CD player. It adds 22 pounds to the weight of the car. I'm sad to let her go, but I'm moving across the country, and I don't really driven her enough to justify paying for an extra parking space. I generally only drive her in top down weather, which is a relatively short season in St. Louis.
I've never put her on the track, but I've driven her like a high-performance car, accepting any challenge on the highway. While 0-60 is fun, 60-120-60 is more fun. So I've already had to replace the brakes and rear tires. I also blew out the clutch — I had it replaced at the dealer with Lotus parts a few years ago. As the miles suggest, she's spent most of her life in the garage. So I've also been through a few batteries. No accidents, but I did scrape up the front passenger wishbone on a pothole; I had the dealer check it out, and it's just cosmetic. The seats are in good shape. There are some small scratches in the paint — about as much as you'd expect on a 15-year-old car.
The only mods I've done are removing the useless sun visor, replacing the trunk prop with a nicer one (from Sector 111), and removing the battery cover for easier access. I also have a model-specific car cover, but it's not in great shape. Oh, and some after-market cup holders.
Feel free to ask me any questions about the car. I've got it listed a couple places.
