** FOR THOSE INTERESTED, I WILL TAKE SOME MORE PICTURES OF IT IN DAY LIGHT**
Truck has 222, 278 miles, hood, and front fenders require painting (paint included) drivers side bed panel is dented (I kicked it), a mechanic ran a Snap-on OBD2 diagnostic computer on the ECU and determined the throttle body is only putting out 20% signal (faulty throttle position sensor in throttle body), so it needs to be replaced. The truck has been a good truck since I've had it until March 2019 when one day it sat out in the sun all day while I was at work and it wouldn't crank until we pushed it in the shade and started checking relays and listening for the fuel pump. We assumed the fuel pump needed replacing. So I put a Quantum fuel pump and strainer in. Next I replaced the MAF (mass airflow sensor) and vapor canister sensor because OBD2 said it was running lean. That didn't fix the issue. Next I replaced both downstream 02 sensors. It still idles rough when outside air is above 90 degrees and the accelerator can't be punched down or the engine will bog down. Accelerator pedal must be feathered down lightly. The throttle body is the culprit after an in depth diagnostic.
The driveshaft, u-joints carrier bearing and leaf springs have all been replaced by the dealership on a recall.
I have replaced the front struts and rear shock absorbers with Rancho 5000XL brand parts. Ball joints were also replaced with the struts. So the suspension is good. As for the body, I hit a big doe one night which dented the hood fender and core support, so all of that has been replaced with 2012-2015 style parts and headlights because they look better. I also have drilled and slotted front rotors on it. Wheels are Enkei 16 aluminum with P265/70R/16 BF Goodwrench Rugged Terrain tires with about 1, 000 miles.
The truck needs some work, but I can say that I have kept the engine maintenance up with oil changes every 4, 000 miles with Castrol GTX High Mileage. The transmission has been flushed and filter replaced about 50k miles ago. I have a K&N oil filter and air filter. I just replaced the spark plugs, not even 100 miles ago.
I will include the new bolt-on style fender flares (paid $200), fender wells (paid $90/set), new power steering pump that I didn't end up needing (paid $85), serpentine belt (paid $15).
Lastly, I recently replaced the tail lights with the LED JDM black tail lights with clear lense.
The truck needs some TLC and I hate to part with it in all honesty. If I had a secondary vehicle where I could get to work, I wouldn't need to or want to sell the truck. I planned on restoring it and keeping it my whole life. I love this truck, but I'm in a hard place right now and I can't depend on it to crank up if left in the sun all day. At night, it always cranks, no problem. I could replace the throttle body, but I think the ignition lock cylinder and key may need replacing, or at least the key for sure because the key is worn down. But the immobilizer in the key or ignition is the reason behind not cranking in extreme heat. I can park under a shade tree with the Windows cracked and not have a problem.
If you have the time and money, this truck could be restored to immaculate condition for under $1, 000. But I've been out of work for 5 months while replacing part or sensor after part until I finally had a professional mechanic diagnose the real problem. Now I'm all out of money and need to move on to something older that I can afford with the money I get from this and also possibly a Mazda 6 with a transmission shift problem.
Thank you for taking the time to read about my Tacoma.
