2006 MUSTANG SHELBY GT-H HERTZ Rent-a-Racer Edition
In 1966 FORD MOTOR COMPANY, SHELBY AMERICAN INC. and HERTZ RENTAL CO. LLC got together and developed the Mustang SHELBY GT350H for rental car service at select airports. In my area one could go to Washington DC's National airport and rent the Shelby for $17 dollars a day / .17 cents a mile. Now move forward to 2006, the trio got together again and developed the 2006 SHELBY GT-H for rental car service for select airports at their Las Vegas, NV. facility. They installed an performance suspension and handling package, cold air intake, performance exhaust system with x-pipe, 3.55 rear axle gears, computer was reprogramed. It is said that with the introduction of this car, it helped to put Shelby back in the hi-performance business again which lead to producing the 2007-08 Shelby GT's, the GT 500KR's, and the Super Snake Shelby's. My Shelby served It's rental tour of duty in the state of Florida. This Shelby is # 285 of only 500 built. I purchased it in 2008, and I'm the original and only owner since it's rental car service. When I bought it, it had roughly 16, 000 miles on the odometer. Since I have owned this car, I installed some Shelby and other parts. I replaced the wheel center caps, engine dress-up kit which includes oil fill cap, power steering cap, brake fluid cap, radiator cap, washer fluid cap, and oil dip stick all with the Shelby GT-H ones. I have brand new GT-H floor mats. The 3 bar with running horse emblem on the drivers side steering wheel airbag started separating so I removed it and replaced it with the Cobra Jet snake emblem airbag cover and replaced the 3 bar with running horse rear faux gas cap with the Cobra Jet snake rear faux gas cap. I personally think they should have add them to the car, and wonder why Shelby didn't do that in the first place. I have a brand new Ford Racing air filter (not installed). Also, I just installed a new cabin filter. I installed the wiring harness for rear tail lights which gives the sequential turn signals. I replaced the Ford factory radio speakers (4) with Alpine speakers and replaced the shaker 500 radio and Sirius satellite receiver with an Alpine radio w/ Bluetooth, and an Alpine mini amp. I have saved all parts removed so it can be changed back to stock if desired. I have all the original paper work such as factory invoice, certificate of origin, Shelby invoice, original window sticker, and other documentation. Also Carroll Shelby signed and wrote the Shelby # 06H285 on the sun visor.
