The time has come to part ways with
my beloved first car. This particular
MK5 GTI has the 2.0 TSI engine (found in the newer MK6 GTI) and has had tons of
preventative maintenance done to it (see key items listed below). The car starts, stops, shifts, and drives
absolutely flawlessly and has been very reliable for me in the time I’ve owned
it. Not once has it left me stranded on
the side of the road. If you need a car
that will do it all look no further.
I bought this car about 4 years ago
when it had 41, xxx miles. While I don’t
have any service history prior to my ownership of the car, I have every single
receipt and invoice in a neatly organized binder (with sheet protectors!) showing
the cars history ever since. Since I’ve
owned the car it has always been garaged (and this is where it will be if you
decide to come take a look at it) and as such has NO RUST. Additionally, I feel it is important to note
that THIS CAR DOES NOT SMELL LIKE CRAYONS unlike all VWs of this vintage do
(google it). Oh, and the headliner isn’t
sagging AT ALL as is also typical.
The car is mostly stock apart from
some visual modifications (I like to call it an OEM PLUS look) and the car has
never been lowered (because NYC roads). The car has a “stage 1” tune from REVO technik & recommended
supporting mods (Audi R8 coilpacks, revision D piston style diverter valve). The car made 215 to the wheels and I have the
dyno sheet to prove it (it’s included in the car’s binder)
If I had to rate the car out of 10 in the following
categories:
Exterior:
9/10
(some rock chips and general rash on the front bumper and elsewhere typical to
a car with this mileage)
Interior:
9/10
(other than some wear on the steering wheel, shes MINT)

replaced the cone filter.
-OEM Votex rear bumper
-tinted side markers

factory in my opinion)
-DoubleApex aux cord (replaces the factory delivered Apple
30-pin connector)
-European market light switch & associated coding
(allows for more control over the factory installed HIDs)

Preventative maintenance and recent service includes, but
is not limited to the following:
-Just FULLY DETAILED the car inside and out. Paint looks absolutely mint in person – you
can really see the pearl in the paint.
-Just changed the oil with VW recommended. Additionally, oil changes were done every
3000 miles (as opposed to VW’s recommended 5000 mile interval – cheap insurance
in my opinion to change it more frequently) –
last done at 78, 404 miles @ Long Island City VW (LIC VW)
-FRESH New York State inspection (just got this done not
even a month ago) –
done on 09/08/2017 @
LIC VW
-Brand new ABS Control Module (replaced under VW recall) –
done at 77, 697 miles @ LIC VW
-Fresh OEM brake fluid –
done on 08/24/2017 @ LIC VW
(On that note, the brakes still have
tons of life left in them)
-Carbon deposit cleaning –
done on 08/21/2016 @ DubCreations
(While the intake manifold was
off the injectors were re-sealed and I had the car seafoamed for good
measure). I might be able to find some
photos that were taken of the cylinders – there wasn’t much of anything in
terms of carbon deposit as is typically expected with these engines.
-Coolant system flushed, cleaned, and refilled with OEM
fluids –
done on 08/21/2016 @
DubCreations
-Throttle body replaced along with the connector that plugs
into the throttle body –
done on
08/21/2016 @ DubCreations
-Fuel Filter replaced –
done
on 08/21/2016 @ DubCreations
AND MUCH MUCH MORE. As I mentioned above, everything that I’ve done to or had done to the
car has all been pretty much documented in the form of receipts or invoices and
organized into a binder.
