Up for consideration is Mavis, A 1974 Volkswagen Super Beetle convertible. It has been in dry storage for the last 25 years. Work was started on putting it back on the road, but, Storage space is no longer available and it needs to be sold. It has 70, 000 original miles, and runs, but it’s not drivable. Could be easily roadworthy in less than a weekend and a case of beer! Car has great curb appeal!
The brake system and fuel lines were in the process of being replaced, and have been removed, but the car will start right up with a fuel can run to the carburetor. The carburetor was rebuilt not too long ago but needs dialed in. New battery, and boxes and boxes of new parts including all of the necessary brake components, new tail lights, seat cushions, and lots of other small parts. Tires were replaced several years ago, and have never seen the road , but are showing signs of cracking. The body itself is straight and solid, all of the doors close with ease and no sagging. Front trunk is solid also, just surface pitting under the spare tire compartment, but again, it’s very solid. Was repainted decades ago. Still actually shows pretty good. Two main areas of that need attention. The top needs to be replaced. And the rear floor Pan has some issues. There is some rust on the rear driver’s floor, and on the rear passenger floor there is a hole underneath the battery box. Could be patched or replaced depending on how far you want to take it. Driver seat is rough, passenger seat is gone.
OK people listen up. This car is considered an antique in the state of Georgia and does not have a title, and does not need one to be registered in this state . It has a Bill of sale only, and can be registered as is in over half the states due to its age. If you really need a title you can get a bonded one for about 100 bucks. And I have done it before on my 1987 Chevy truck. The process is very simple. Here’s how it works. I obtained mine through my insurance company USAA. It cost me about $100. An officer comes out and inspects the car, runs the vin and signs the paperwork. You turn it into the DMV and can get the car registered immediately. And then it takes about four months for the actual title to come back. It is a bonded title. And then it converts automatically to a regular title after five years.
Car is located 1/2 hour west of Atlanta right off interstate 20. Any other questions will be answered. Please feel free to ask. A five hundred dollar nonrefundable deposit is required within 24 hours of the auction closing. If you really need to have this car shoot me a buy it now offer Car is sold as is, where is, no warranties. Cheers!
