The DeLorean Motor Company, named after its founder, GM automotive executive John Z. DeLorean, existed from 1975 through 1983. During its short life, the company introduced only a single model, the iconic DMC-12 gullwing coupe, into production at its manufacturing facility in Dunmurry, Northern Ireland. DeLorean’s mission to create an “ethical sports car” that could compete against established models such as the Corvette.
