Description:

Reluctantly selling this Italian masterpiece of an automobile; the 1974 Alfa Romeo GTV 2000.
Finished in rosso (red) and nero (black). Just looking at this little car can turn machismo into marshmallow. It is unquestionably one of the most beautiful and perfectly proportioned car designs of all time. It epitomizes the concept of simple elegance. Capisce ? Penned by the young Giorgetto Giugiaro for Bertone, these 105 series coupes are not just a pretty face. From their introduction in 1963 these cars came equipped with a high revving double overhead cam light alloy four cylinder engine, four wheel disk brakes and a five speed transmission. It endured largely unchanged on the streets and race circuits around the world for 14 glorious years, and it endures today in the hearts and loins of car enthusiasts everywhere.
The provenance of this car is not complete, but I'm working on it. I can tell you, that if it had a Carfax it would simply read bravo, bravo, eccellentissimo. I do know that this car was originally sold in California, finding its way to Florida where it received a ground up restoration over a three year period (2005-2008) by a master Italian mechanic and coachman in Pompano Beach, Florida. Starting with a rust free 60 something thousand mile driver it was disassembled and stripped to bare metal. The original transmission, brakes and suspension were completely overhauled using original parts where possible and new where necessary. The original motor was rebuilt with forged parts, high compression pistons and a street cam. Stebro stainless steel header and exhaust and MSD electronic ignition compliment the original SPICA (Società Pompe Iniezione Cassani & Affini) mechanical fuel injection. Clad with fresh rubber and authentic Campagnolo 5 Star alloy wheels it looks fabulous. Bellissimo!
The car then adorned the climate controlled foyer of his shop for six years before, upon retirement, he traded it to a longtime client, collector and landlord for back rents. It has less than 1500 miles since the restoration was completed. This GTV 2000 is the recipient of many top awards in an area of the country (South Florida) where stock Lambos and Ferraris are pedestrian and hot blooded Latins are a leading demographic.
Everything works as it should, that is once you figure out what the odd assortment of seemingly randomly placed control knobs, levers and toggle switches are for. The business side of things in hand and under foot seem, well Italian. Unlike a BMW 2002 whose controls seem to be precisely where you expect them, the little Alfa prefers to have it the other way around. But once you settle into her way of thinking you'll never look back. Who needs bratwurst and sauerkraut when you can have the arrabiata diavlo?
The driving dynamics of this car is amazing. It integrates you into the mechanism; translating the vibrations and sounds, oh those sounds, into sensory feedback and control. It's not about finesse or brute force. It's about the car inviting the driver to complete the connection between its 130hp aria and 2200 pounds of balletic curb weight. It truly delivers that visceral sensation, the nirvana car guys talk about but seldom experience.
Just writing about this car, searching for the words, I notice my breaths are short and my blood feels hotter; my mind races between the thought of driving it and the thought of just looking at it. My God, it feels like I'm cheating on my wife!
Now you have the rare opportunity to experience the passion and the emotion I am trying to convey here first hand. It goes without saying that these cars are becoming more collectible by the year. There were no shortage of them produced but there just aren't enough really good ones left to satisfy the red hot blooded Italian car enthusiast, of which I am certain there are more of than cars available to accommodate. Hence the $36, 600 asking price. Hot love affairs don't come cheap.
Trades considered. Porsche 911 air cooled; Ferrari 308 328; BMW 3.0 early M6; C1 or C2 Corvette; Mustang fastback; something interesting; stacks of Benjamins. No Liras. No boats, no bikes even if they're by Riva or Ducati.

Sold as is where is. Seller reserves the right to end the auction at any time. $500 non refundable deposit due within 24 hours of auction end. If you don't have the money, look all you want but DO NOT bid. Zero feedback bidders please send message of serious intent. Get your wife's permission to buy before bidding. The car is available for inspection by appointment. I will hold the car for a reasonable period of time to allow buyer to arrange transportation and or pick up at buyer's expense.
Now, for the pictures; who needs pornography when you can look at these. But don't be just another voyeur, make me an offer I can't refuse. Ciao!
