Here’s another rare, nice running Alfa we’ve acquired for our eBay
customers. This Milano represents the
zenith (and one of the final years) of what many of us consider the last “true”
Alfa Romeo i.e. a balanced, rear wheel drive sports machine. Milanos
were considered to be one of the best handling sport
sedans of their time. Because of
the rather unique configuration of engine in front and transmission in the rear
of the car, a near perfect balance and neutral road handling was
achieved. These are the perfect rally car! With Alfa returning
shortly to the U.S. market, you’ve gotta wonder if the new cars will live up to
the past. You’re welcome to contact me with
any questions during the auction. My
name is
Mark
and my direct number is
206/914-1173
. You’re welcome and encouraged to make an appointment during business
hours to inspect and test-drive as well. As a respected Ebay seller with many satisfied online buyers, I want you
to bid with confidence knowing that this Milano runs and drives as it should
and that it is being properly represented to you!
VEHICLE DESCRIPTION:
This car sold new back on July 8, 1987
at Exotic Motor Imports LTD. here in the Seattle Suburb of Bellevue, Washington. Along with the free and
clear, unbranded title we received the original window sticker, owner’s manual, maintenance booklet and dealer directory in their factory folio to pass along
to the next caretaker (the previous long-term owner also supplied a complete
work shop manual I’ll be sure to include).
The un-retouched photos really do tell
the story. The exterior wears excellent bright red factory-color paint. Vehicles here in the Pacific Northwest hate body rust and we find no
evidence of any here!
Yes, we get a bit of drizzly rain, but hardly
ever any snow so our winter roads are never
salted. Please free to climb over, under and around the Milano - I
know you’ll come up smiling!
Take another good look at the interior pictures. The carpets front and
rear are absolutely like new. There is fabric breakdown on the driver’s
front bucket, hence the seat covers. The
passenger bucket is near perfect. Both
are very comfortable with no perceived broken seat springs or dissolving bolster
foam. From my photos you’ll see the 160 MPH
speedo/odometer reads just
95, 900 miles
. Because of the cars age and short time it’s
been in our possession, I have no idea if they are accurate or correct.
Mechanically the Alfa appears strong and in good shape. Even after
sitting in our storage warehouse for a few days at a time it’s never failed to
start right up literally at the first crank – you just can’t beat these
high-revving fuel-injected V-6s! The five-speed transmission shifts
between gears as it should, although one must be gentle to avoid gear grinding. I usually pump up the clutch several times before going into gear from a
stop. The brakes feel just fine to
me.
The matching
radials appear to have at least 80-90% tread wear remaining all around. Having owned a number of Alfa’s over
three decades, I’ve developed a great appreciation for their style and overall
driving experience. I KNOW you’ll be
proud to own and drive this great sedan.
CONDITION:
In
total, this is a clean, smoke-free car. I take pride in the vehicles we sell and feel that you should know as
much about them as possible. Accordingly, here is a list of the good and also things needing attention: The car idles, runs and drives as I feel it should: strong
battery and charging system, no overheating, and no brake pull or alignment
issues! I had my mechanic do a quick
once over last and all that was needed was a fresh set of sparkplugs. The only real issues I find are: The ignition
cylinder locked up a few years ago so the last owner removed it and installed a
starter button and ignition toggle switch hidden below the dash. The key is still used for the electric door locks, which work great. The factory A/C system
wants to blow warm. A portion of the headliner fabric sag just a bit (I think it could easily be re-glued
into place). A number of the gauges read
inaccurately. On the good side, the
radio is fine as is the steering is tight. The Ferrari red paint is in great overall condition and still holds
quite a shine, having been re-sprayed to the factory color in the recent past. You won’t find rust bubbles in any of the
usual spots under the paint. The entire undercarriage is in great, solid
condition for a 28-year-old car! Portions
of the exhaust system have also been replaced. Still needing to be done: a new windshield.
Please BID WITH CONFIDENCE and know that you are purchasing a nice
car from a respected Ebay seller. I want
you to be happy with your purchase (and with me) and that’s the main goal! Please don’t be upset if I miss other minor
flaws or an unforeseen problem! No used
car is perfect. Having said that, I have
every confidence in this Alfa and the way it drives!
Because
of the amount of money involved in buying a vehicle, I require that Ebay
members with a feedback history of five (5) or fewer transactions call or email
before placing a bid
.
If I don’t
have this initial contact, your bid may be cancelled. The phone number to talk directly to me, as
outlined above, is 206/914-1173. Please feel free to call any time during the
auction. My name is
MARK.
A Few Additional Terms and Conditions:
A
nonrefundable $500 deposit is due within 48 hours of the auction’s
conclusion. The balance is due by cash
or certified funds within seven business days unless prior arrangements have
been made with me. I can accept bank
cards, but I’ll first need to invoice you and ask that you cover the 3.5% fee
our processer charges. Please remember
you are bidding to buy and I fully expect the winning bidder to fulfill their
Ebay contract! You’re not bidding to
hold or then come inspect and test-drive the vehicle later -- You’re more than
welcome to do this before the auction ends.
If you decide to have the Milano transported home, there are scores
of companies to choose from. We ship vehicles regularly and I'd suggest
that you get a transport bid from Dependable
Auto Shippers (DAS).
They're Ebay's preferred transporter and will
give you a fair quote. Call them
directly at (888) 817-6203.
Give the phone rep my affiliate number
(2362642)
and they can pull up all our information for a station-to-station
or even door-to-door quote.
For west coast bidders, we have a great hauler that delivers quickly to
Washington, Oregon and California at reasonable rates.
As another alternative, you might get bids from the U-Ship.com
website. You’ll be able to choose a
transport broker from multiple offers. The
zip code for pick-up would be 98002 (Auburn, Washington). The shipping of the vehicle and company
chosen are the responsibility of the BUYER.
The Alfa can
be stored free of charge at my location for up to two weeks after the auction
ends assuming full payment has been received. After that period storage is $20 per day.
