ALFA ROMEO Alfasud 1.2 L
(type 901 D)
first registered in November 1975 (Sicily / Italy).
The car is a sought after “Lusso” model with the 63 hp engine. The Lusso (luxury version) was an upgrade to the very first production cars and can be easily recognized by some extra chrome trim it showed on the bodywork that made the car more attractive. The rare L-model also received a revolution counter, electrical washer system, ashtrays also for the rear passengers and illuminated heater levers. Further changes were seats covered with velvety cloth, carpets instead of rubber mats, an upholstered dashboard with a lockable glove box and a new steering wheel.
Weight was only 1.895 lbs (860 kgs), so the car had a max speed of almost 100 mph (155 km/h).
The car spent all of its life on the sunny island of Sicily in the most southern part of Italy with only two registered owners since new and was imported to Germany at the end of 2014. Therefore it is in substantial very good shape compared to the few rusty other cars that are for sale from time to time...
The color combination of paintwork in light grey (AR code: grigio somma) and interior in dark blue leatherette is original. The bodywork is very original with no changes to the genuine layout. The car has standard steel rims with all new tyres. The doors and hoods are extremely solid and in very good shape with no spots of corrosion. On the rear wheel arch at the the passenger side is a small scratch that can easily be spot repaired (but by now is left as it is since years to leave the car in its very genuine condition).
The paintwork was renewed some years ago in Italy and is still in good condition.
Interior is all factory-original with no radio mounted in the dashboard. Drivers seat and door panel have been repaired by saddler. The rest of the interior show some little signs of the hot climate in Sicily, but generally good with good door panels not spoiled with loudspeakers.
Mechanics are all sound. The engine starts at first attempt with choke and runs smooth without noises or smoke etc. Gearbox, axles and power train are fine. The car received a great service just ~ 100 mls. ago. It also made the way through the tough German technical check for road registration without hassle.
The Alfasud as a precursor of the modern compact cars is rising in appreciation since years. The genuine early chrome models are really hard to find compared to the latter plastic versions that were produced in much higher quantities. This is a chance to own a rare and rustfree “Lusso” model (produced since end of 1975 in this configuration) in very original condition!
Mileage according to odometer (139.000 kms = 86.500 mls.) Please note that the odometer is five figures only. Also available are the complete genuine service books including owners manual and many receipts since first registration! The car has still the very first black Italian license plates (reg. in the city of Ragusa in southern Sicily).
