Description:

This is the one you have been searching for. It is great fun and is an excellent daily driver. No rust, look at the pictures, they tell the story.
This 50 YEAR OLD original survivor has had three 'driving' owners. The first owner for one year, the second for 47 years, then quickly a dealer and lastly myself. It is a fantastic example and is mechanically sound with a lot of recent work invested. It is a numbers matching car and is really the one that you have been searching for. Drive it as a fantastic daily / weekend driver or take the time and attention to restore it and have a very valuable show car. This car is over 75% of the way there and is perfectly presentable as is, or restore. The choice is yours.
Assuming you know this vehicle, the exhaust note of the car is a joyful BLUUURT! I love it and the 1600 engine is strong enough and matched well for the car, even providing ample acceleration in 5th gear going uphill on steep grades.
Copies of service work date back to 1966, when the car was regularly taken to the same two shops in New Jersey from the purchase date until 1986. Recent service includes a new vinyl top in 2014, and a complete engine rebuild including all lower and upper components, rebuilt carburettor and new clutch assembly, and a rebuilt transmission which shifts beautifully. Previously new tie rod ends were fit on both sides, a new battery and ignition components were replaced. Even the windscreen wiper regulator was repaired to give better results.
Also included with this vehicle are original keys and documents from the original sale including; Service Coupon Book; Alfa Romeo Instruction Book and a supplement from then VP, Arturo Reitz, titled “Enjoying Your Alfa.” Also two new sets of tires are included, each providing a totally different driving experience - Pirrelli Cintauros which are brand new and new Bridgestone radials. The original jack and half of the original tool set are also included, plus two new cloth floor mats and an Alfa cloth car cover with logo.
Something to note, which was recently expertly repaired. There was a poor frame repair done in the 1970′s - I'll include a couple of photos to show before, middle and after. With the right rocker panel removed, it was apparent that the entire inner sill would require replacement as well as the frame segment in question. All new pieces were hand fabricated to exact factory specifications by an expert technician in Colorado. With the metal work complete, the section was painted blending the newly restored section for a perfect match with the rest of the car. The only other thing I note is that the wiper fluid bag was changed and there are two small surface dimples where it will need attention. There is also some paint wear on the inside bottom of the passenger door. A paint job was done sometime in the last 20 years and it is not the best job ever dome, but more then acceptable for a daily driver.
A fair amount of time and money has been invested since I've owned this beauty over the last two years, and mechanically it is sound and running well. This really IS the car to keep as a fun investment. Enjoy driving as is, or restore and show it. One thing it will need is new rubber door and window seals. They are there and function, but original and in need of reinstating with new, fresh versions for the next 50 years of its life. The quality of the undercarriage and body make me think that with careful upkeep or restoration, there should be no reason this car should not reach 100 years of age.
Fully restored models are already commanding over $100, 000-120, 000. This is a highly collectible and beautiful mostly original car. As an investment, especially with Alfa Romeo returning to the scene in North America, it should prove it's worth and more.
The car is now in West Vancouver, BC if you want to see it in person. It has been certified and serviced in BC by N&M Alfa in North Vancouver. They are Alfa experts and they love this car. I can try my best to assist with shipping if required, or better yet come to beautiful Vancouver in springtime and drive it home!
Payment by cash or bank wire transfer accepted. And please, only bid on this car if you intend on buying it. If you have less then 5 eBay ratings please email me first.
I am a longtime eBayer so bid often and with confidence. Happy bidding and good luck !
