DETAILED INFORMATION:
This fun-in-the-sun droptop Italian convertible is the essence of a classic roadster. With body lines by famed Italian design house Pinnafarina, this little red sports car is a beauty to the eyes. Originally purchased by me in 2010, this car has seen a partial restoration and a whole host of improvements. Here is a summary of the restoration that has been completed thus far:
THE
RESTORATION – FINISHED IMPROVEMENTS:
1. Cooling system renewed – radiator pulled/sealed/pressure-tested/painted, new mounting gaskets, new thermostat, hoses replaced, hose clamps cleaned
and/or replaced, system flushed, new coolant added, system purged of air, new
radiator cap
2. Engine – new spark plugs, various hoses
replaced due to excessive wear, engine compartment cleaned/degreased, oil
changed, new oil filter
3. Air intake – installed a new K&N
permanent air filter
4.
Transmission – new clutch master cylinder, new clutch slave cylinder
5. Brakes – adjusted parking brake, inspected/cleaned all brake components front and rear, purchased new rear brake
rotors for future use (will include these with the car)
6. Electrical – checked and tightened all
electrical grounding terminals, installed custom LED running lights and dash
mounted switch, installed new high/low Halogen headlamps, reworked/rewired rear
spoiler brake lights and license plate lighting for correct operation, installed
new Kenwood head unit, new “aux” port for plug connection to iPod or MP3
player, new 4” door speakers, new 6-1/2” rear speakers, new 10” Alpine
subwoofer, and new dedicated Kenwood amplifier for driving the sub
7. Exterior trim – purchased and installed new
badging/emblems for center front bumper and rear trunk lid, replaced driver’s
side door latch with new unit, re-chromed headlight trim rings on both sides, installed new gaskets for headlight trim rings, replaced rear spoiler bulb
light cover, adjusted fuel hatch pull wire and refinished gas cap
8. Interior trim – completely refurbished both
driver’s side and passenger side doors (new door panels, new vinyl upholstery, reworked power window system for correct operation, repaired broken plastic
components, added custom-made door trim pieces, new door lugs), removed all
interior pieces except dash for inspection/cleaning, added new “Suppressor”
heat and acoustical control mat along floor boards/transmission tunnel/back seat, re-dyed and installed all carpet pieces including trunk carpet, installed new
plastic trim cover at trunk hatch/gas hatch control levers, installed new vinyl
cover for parking brake level, new custom embroidered plush floor mats with
Alfa Romeo logo, new custom panel surround for center console gear shift boot, new custom speaker enclosure for rear shelf with matching red carpet, new
custom black vinyl storage compartment attached to speaker enclosure, removed
and reformed glove compartment door for tighter seal, new custom leather shift
knob with Alfa logo, refurbished OEM steering wheel and wrap, replaced
convertible top leather pull handles
9. Battery – installed new yellow Optima battery
and mounting brackets for secure operation in original OEM battery location
OTHER THINGS
YOU GET WITH THE CAR:
1. Full-size, OEM alloy wheel for spare tire
2. Factory
hardtop with aluminum storage frame on wheeled castors
3. Original
owner’s manual, maintenance program booklet, window sticker and other
miscellaneous paperwork
4. All spare parts and trim pieces retained
during the restoration process
5. Cloth car cover for storage of vehicle
6. Custom leather key chain with Alfa Romeo logo
THINGS
REMAINING FOR FUTURE RESTORATION:
1. Suspension – remove/inspect/repair any worn
suspension system components
2. Speedometer – currently not functioning; the
odometer, speedometer cables and sender unit are working correctly, so the
issue has been narrowed to a likely electrical connection fault at the back of
the control pod
3. Seat belts – the current seat belts are
functional but the release action and lack of a smooth release from the winding
mechanism can be irritating at times; the condition seems to come and go at
random, so new driver’s side and passenger side seat belts might be a needed
future improvement
4. Air Conditioning – the A/C compressor has not
been charged with refrigerant, so the operation of the system is unknown
PURCHASING
THIS VEHICLE
If you would like to
arrange a time to take a closer look at the car and possibly a test drive, please send me a text message (972-998-4646)
or e-mail. I will contact serious buyers
to coordinate a viewing. Prospective
buyers should bring a copy of their driver’s license and proof of insurance if a test drive is desired. I have put a significant of money and labor into this vehicle over the last 5 years, so this is not a
“buy it and flip it scenario”. Please
respect the restoration process and only contact me if you are truly interested
and can afford to purchase this car.
