This is a very clean Alfa Romeo Spider, in a rare and attractive color combination, that has been with the same owner since 2000. Shortly after purchase, it went through an exhaustive and extensive fully documented restoration including:
- The engine was re-built using high performance Alfa 1750 Euro cams
- The transmission was re-built and all synchros were replaced
- The suspension was completely replaced including shocks, springs, sway bars, all bushings
- The body was completely stripped, straightened, and completely re-painted
- The exhaust was replaced with a custom system that sounds absolutely fantastic
- The top was replaced
- The original red interior was sympathetically cleaned and re-installed. (still looks great)
- The wheels were stripped and re-done
It has been driven only 15, 000 miles since all the major work was done. This is obvious when you see and drive the car. It starts right up, no smoke, idles great, shifts smoothly, handles well, and pulls very hard. It has been well maintained throughout the years including a complete fluid servicing and brake work this past Spring (May 2015). There are no leaks and everything works as it should. Even the recent tires have plenty of tread left. In many ways, it is better than new. Plenty of records available including a complete photo album documenting ALL the work. Also, a very very rare factory hard top in excellent condition is included with the car.
Currently, it needs nothing but a new owner; it is completely turn - key and ready to be enjoyed. The car is located in a Western Chicago suburb and can be inspected with some notice. Please ask any and all questions BEFORE bidding. The reserve is set VERY reasonably and at a fraction of what has been spent on the car.
