This thrilling Spider is rapidly gaining attention and value, just look at the other listings! According to Hagerty Values, average value for this drivable collectable is: $11, 924* (with a range from $6, 500-$24, 000). That doesn't include the spectacular rebuilds like the
Roadster Salon Basso for $43, 000.
My low reserve reflects the need for cosmetics on the finish of the car, which I have run out
of time to complete, mechanically it is a wonderful driver! The Alfa Romero Spider
Veloce is a graceful machine that’s a blast to drive!
With
head-turning good looks, it’s the right balance of
classic style with modern mechanicals. The timeless styling conveys a real sense of value and it’s
the very last project the renowned stylist Batista
Pininfarina was personally involved. Widely viewed as classic design today, it was met with some controversy when the so-called “Kamm-tail” was added. The Spider was
obviously assembled with care in 1990, as the fit is all quality. Its easy
lowering and raising the top and installing the tonneau cover vs. other classic
roadsters. Sitting behind the wheel and looking over the sloping hood at
the rounded tops of the fenders is intoxicating. It makes you feel as if you
are driving something much more expensive. This low millage California
car is rust free and a daily driver. Parts are readily available and it is
reasonable to have work done. A spritely performer with sub-10 second 0-60 mph, this 2.0-liter, Bosch
fuel-injected four-cylinder gets exciting when you reach 3, 000 rpm; that’s when
you feel it being an Alfa. You can feel nearly every revolution of the engine
when it idles, like its racing heritage. I get excellent gas mileage, about 26
mpg city and highway 31mpg!
The
combination of fast reflexes, crisp steering and excellent braking make for fun
driving. The exhaust has a deep tone that almost turns into a growl at high
rpms. It sounds and feels just like a sports car should! In 1990, Alfa added power steering; it conveys a good feel for
the road and enhances driving ease in tight situations, especially parking. The
well-equipped Spider Veloce sports big 15-inch Alpha Star Alloy wheels (more
valuable) with P195/60HR15 tires. That much rubber on the road gives the car a
very stable ride, even under hard braking by the four-wheel, power disc brakes. This Veloce has only 88, 000 miles featuring an upgrade Alpine
AM/FM/CD stereo, electrically operated windows and mirrors and a surprisingly good
air conditioning system. Because the car is small, all controls are easy to reach. The leather bucket seats get high marks
for comfort and support. Life is what
you make it!
(From original Ad in 1990) Why not make it fun?
