The good. .
This car is a head turner, rarely do I drive it without comments at stoplights. Really fun to drive.
Strong motor, does not burn oil, runs
cool and strong, peppy. I do not know the history but feel sure the engine and transmission were rebuilt at one point (and done properly).
Transmission shift smooth, does not
grind or pop out of gear.
Drive shaft recently rebuilt
Interior is nice, recent vinyl
upholstery kit
Body has no major dents (small dings), paint shines but is scratched as you would expect with a car of this
age.
Recent convertible top
Nice wheels bumpers, not yet a show car
but all and all nice looking car.
Good brakes
Bosch Fuel Injectors were replaced, ditto for fuel pump relay.
The bad. .
Heater does not turn on, the switch is
disconnected but I am not sure what else it would need, I have only
owned it in Vegas so I don't need it.
Small hole in the muffler (sounds cool vroom vroom)
Oil pressure gauge does not work (the
senders are usually the culprit), oil pressure warning light works. Odometer does not work, Tach and Speedometer seem to read a little high. Fuel Level Sender is erratic so the gauge needle bounces.
Fuse box /lower dash cover is included but a hinge
pin / latch is missing and needs to be replaced
Dash cap is deformed (melted on a 120
degree day), I have the replacement is included but you will need to glue it in
place.
Missing an emblem, another is off the
car, a piece of rubber trim is also missing.
I broke a side reflector last month, need replacement.
Windshield washer does not work (not
hooked up), again in Vegas I would not need it so I have not
troubleshot the issue.
Other oddities (Alfas have oddities)
and service it may need sometime.
Cold start switch has intermittently
given me trouble, likely wiring is loose, I cleaned the wiring and it works properly presently. Wiring connections and grounds is a weak spot on all Alfas of this era.
The in tank fuel pump has not run
occasionally, it is newer (replaced it 2 years ago) and I tested it an it works fine so again wiring might have a loose connect, I cleaned and tightened the connectors and once again it is working fine now.
I had planned to go thru the
suspension, there is no major issue but some of the grease boots are
cracked due to desert heat and so the ball joints and tie rod parts
will have a shorter lifespan. One of the rear springs is weak and so
the set and the shocks should be done. It is a project I had planned
on doing sometime. I have been driving it like this since I had it, but the handling would improve with this service.
The trunk carpet is not installed, it
needs some work.
The fuel door does not work from the
lever, I have a pull wire hooked up in the trunk, so you need to open
the trunk and then release the door. The cable for it is good but the
attachment hardware is missing.
The weatherstripping for the
convertible top is hard and dry and needs replacement, it is
available for about $60, again in Vegas it does not rain So I never drive with the top up so I never
fixed it.
I rebuilt the driveshaft with new
bearings and u-joints but one of the u-joints makes noise when
rolling to a stop. It was an Autozone part, and is supposed to be
interchangeable but not as good as the OEM part, the Italian ones are
better and will not make noise. I have the Italian replacement but it
needs to be installed.
This car did not come with A/C but I
bought a complete used unit off eBay. It is in boxes and included, I hope it works but do know for sure. When I
got the car I thought I would use it but I ended up always driving
the car with the top down.
The key I have is from the drivers door
and the ignition, I do not have any other keys, the glove box, trunk
lock (the lever to open it is on the interior door post) they are not
locked and you can use them but I do not have the key to lock them.
The passenger door has to be locked / unlocked from the inside.
I am sure there are other small issues
that I have forgotten.
This car is an older Italian sports
car, It may be one of the most fun artistic cars ever built, an
absolute pleasure to drive and own. I have owned it for 3 years and
it has never let me down, I have never had to tow it and it has
always got me home. You can use it as a daily driver as is or if you
want to improve as a show car. You should plan on spending time
maintaining it, I love it but it can be a puzzle!
$500 due within 24 hours, the balance in Cash or Cashiers Check before pickup.
