AR*1482038 is a 1969 Alfa Romeo Spider Veloce (10562) with
matching factory motor is available for purchase. Extremely original and never
restored. Judged at the 2008 National Alfa Romeo Convention in Chicago, this
car scored 3rd highest in points. I am the second Owner and have
taken care of this beauty for 21 years, never driven in rain and has been kept
in a heated garage. Everything works and nothing has ever been taken apart. Paint
close up has some spider-webbing and it may have been touched up in a few spots
by first owner, I have been tempted to having the paint re-freshened but have
resisted since it is 100% original. The suspension and brake system just
recently received attention in the tune of $8, 500 which included new rotors all
around, new brake lines, new rubber bushings throughout and complete re-sealing
of undercarriage. Car is rust free, however, there is a small area at the rear (see pic) that a loose bolt lost in the boot has eaten thru. The interior is in excellent condition with exception of two
tears on the driver’s seat. I have the original never installed rubber mats in excellent
condition, I also have the original drape that is also in excellent condition
with just a ½” tear at the folding area in the center of pivot. The chrome is
in excellent shape with no dings. The car comes with a log book dating back to
first service. The prior owner was a jet fighter hence the colors around the
gauges, I’m a sucker for originality and never bothered to erase it’s prior
history. Removing the old paint on the gauges would be easy and quick.
A few interesting things about this model is that it marked
the last year of the Round “Boat” Tail Spiders and the first year in the USA
for the 1750 powertrain. Only 2214 cars produced as LHD USA cars compared to
5, 960 of the earlier 1600 Duetto’s. The original 1750 engine pulls like a new
unit and is also in excellent working condition. This car has the original
SPICA Injection system and I may be in the minority, but I have never once
experienced a problem with either of my 1750’s in last 25 years. They pull to
red-line time after time, never fouling plugs and never making adjustment
during weather changes.
I prefer to sell the car As-Is and acknowledge that many
enthusiasts appreciate originality. The car is located in the Chicagoland area.
