1972 AMX 360 4bbl, automatic transmission, PS, PDB. As far as I know the mileage is correct at 54, xxx and has not turned over. I'm selling this project car as I have too many other projects to complete. A driver quality restoration has been started but needs to be finished. I'm a newbie with AMC automobiles, and not an expert.
Body: The vehicle had the typical rust in the rear quarters and the front drivers foot well, but those areas have been repaired with metal patch panels. There is a small dent under the drivers door handle, otherwise the body is fairly straight. It also appears that the right front corner of the fiberglass hood has been repaired at one time, and will need some attention. I don't think it would take much to prep the body for paint. The glass is all in good condition with just a few minor scratches. The bumpers are in fair condition, but will need to be re chromed. The trunk floor is in good condition with no rust. The tail light gaskets will probably need to be replaced, as they do leak some water into the trunk when the car is washed.
Interior: The interior is in very good condition other than the headliner is faded, and some fading to the rear quarter interior trim panels. The dash is in excellent condition, and has a new wiring harness installed. The aftermarket radio is not hooked up, as I had planned to replace it with a better sound system. The tachometer is not working properly, and I have mechanical gauges for temp and oil pressure connected rather then the dash gauges (I had planned to change that to the factory gauges).
Engine:The 360 engine has exhaust headers, and an Edelbrock Torker intake manifold with a new Edelbrock carburetor (I do not have the original RAM AIR air cleaner.) engine has good oil pressure. The car has not been driven on the road for many years, but the engine starts right up, and the transmission shifts great. The engine has good oil pressure, but idles rough. It does smooth out somewhat at higher RPM. This may be due to the car be over cammed, or it may just need a good tune up. It is typical for everyone to over cam their car, and this may be the case. I have only driven the car on the road for a few short miles this last week, and it appears everything is in working condition. All lights and turn signals work. If purchased the car should be trailered to it's destination, as the car has a loud temporary exhaust that dumps before the rear axle. The headers should be replaced as they are rusty looking and the gaskets leak. The car is 44 years old, and parts can fail at any time.
New Parts recently installed: Edelbrock water pump, heater core, Edelbrock carburetor, dash wiring harness, and front emergency brake cable (rear cables may need to be replaced)
You are bidding on a true AMX with 360 4bbl engine (that's what makes it worth the asking price). The car does need restoration, so only purchase the car if you have the ability to do repairs and restoration work. I have way more invested in this car then the asking price. This could be a great car once the restoration is completed, or you could go find a restored car, and spend $15, 000 - $25, 000 The car is sold as is, where is, and no warranty is given or implied. Shipping is the sole responsibility of the purchaser.
Payment is accepted via wire transfer, or cash upon pick up. Other payment methods could delay possession of the vehicle.
Only bid on the vehicle if you have the ability to pay and follow through with the transaction.
