You are bidding on a 1974 Gremlin X. I bought a new one in 72 and loved it. When I saw this one I had to have it, something about reliving my youth. It is in very good condition, not show but nice. it is quick and will chirp the tires in second with out much effort. The 258 was worn out so I decide to be a little different. I installed an 89 Chevy 4.3 V6 with a turbo 350 trans from a one ton truck, Both rebuilt. Nothing has been cut or chopped up, which will allow going back to stock. I had plans for a 401 but could never find the money. I hate I have to sell but I just bought a 54 studebaker 2dr wagon that I need the money to build.. Since I have owned the Gremlin here is what has been done.
rebuilt Chevy 89 4.3 with 92 vortec heads, roller rockers high volume oil pump, dbl roller timing chain, valves bearings and so forth.
rebuilt turbo 350 from an 89 one ton GMC truck. Super strong with tight shifts. Custom balance drive shaft.
New started, alternator, water pump.
Completely rebuilt air conditioning system which works fine. Vintage air compressor, lines and condensor. custom bracket for compressor.
New upper and lower ball joints, Idler arm and lower control arm bushings, very tight front end.
new power steering box, pump and lines.
Brakes completley rebuilt to include master/ wheel cylinders, and hoses.
New Windshield.
New upholstery includes seats, carpet and head liner, and door panels.
New paint and body work all rust cut out and replaced with new metal. Floors are perfect as well as the frame.I have pics of the body work.
New radiator.
HERE ARE THE MINOR ISSUES:
Exhaust is home made with used flowmaster mufflers, very functional and sounds great, not to pretty.
Slight roar in the amc 15 307 rear. Have replaced axle bearings probably worn pinon, which these are know for. Drives fine. needs an amc 20 posi.
Bumpers are driver quality not the prettiest. they are available at Bumper Boyz in LA.
Has mazda pickup gas tank which works fine you just can not go as far, Fuel guage works fine. !5.5 MPG at interstate speed with ac running.
I have tried to be as detailed as possible with the description as possible. The car drives. great and I would not be afraid to drive it any where.
