1978 AMC Matador Barcelona Coupe. Purchased new at Springfield AMC Jeep on June 10 1978. I purchased it recently from the 94 yr old original owner. Comes with original sale papers, owners manual, and all receipts from services performed from day 1. Car runs, drives, and shifts as it should. Paint is in good condition with some thin spots and patina. There is one small dent on the front of the passenger door and a small scratch on the right rear quarter in front of the wheel. Vinyl top is in good condition. The interior and panels are in good shape with some sun fading in spots. Carpets are in new condition. Car has no rust, was always garaged. Tires are excellent and original wheels and centers are very good. Mechanically the car is sound, but was rarely driven in the last 5 years. I drove it home about 20 miles with no problems. Everything seems to work on the car although the rear window defogger looks unlikely to work. A/C compressor engages but needs to be charged. 360 V8, auto trans. I have read that only 293 Barcelona Coupes were sold in 1978 out of 2006 coupes sold, but I'm not an expert on these cars. I do know it is rare. The passenger door and quarter paint is shinier than the rest of the car but in looking through the dozens of service records I didn't find proof of any work. Basically a VERY well cared for original car purchased new in Springfield Mo and spent it's whole life there. Owner had to go in assisted living and I purchased the car from the family.
