I am selling my 1966 Rambler American due to loss of garage and an upcoming move south. I am the 3rd owner of this very original survivor car. The car shows 84, 000 miles which is believed to be original but can't be verified. I have much history on the vehicle going back to the early 1970's. The convertible is one of 2, 092 built in 1966. It is rare to find one in this condition. The car has the very durable 232 6 cylinder engine with a Carter 2 barrel carburetor, power steering, power brakes and power top. It runs very well and is very reliable as most Ramblers are. Always starts and goes. I have done much work to it over the 4 years I have owned it. Many new parts including master cylinder, brakes, lines, tires, alternator, battery, voltage regulator, tune up and exhaust manifold gasket. The car shifts perfectly although it does have a very minor transmission seal leak which does not affect the running of the car. If I have to replace a quart a year, that is a lot. The body is in excellent condition with no rust and no dents. This is the second paint job in the original red color. Overall, the interior is in good condition although the drivers seat has some small tears in the vinyl and the padded dashboard has one split in the center. The other seats and the door panels and rug are in very good shape. The canvas top is in good condition with no rips or tears. It shows some wear. The top motor works perfectly. If someone wanted to completely restore the car, it is a very good candidate. This car is an original condition driver. It is not a show car although I do get a lot of attention at car shows and many thumbs up when driving it around. If you want a reliable fun convertible at a reasonable price, this is it.
