PLEASE READ THIS DESCRIPTION IN IT'S ENTIRETY BEFORE BUYING: This ad is for a 2002 Audi Allroad in NOT RUNNING condition. The car was running perfectly fine and the engine was operating very smooth. The next day the car would not start. The starter cranks and cranks with the key, and the engine is turning, but the engine just won't fire and run.
What troubleshooting have we done so far: There were a few codes in the engine computer that I did not write down. Unfortunately, someone was texting with us about the codes and they were accidentally erased by someone unfamiliar with using one of those cheap hand held code readers. So I do not know what the codes are now. Also, I did some google searching, and the topic of timing belt seems to come up. There is a plastic inspection cover on the top of the engine that exposes a small area of the timing belt, for checking it's condition I presume. The timing belt appears intact and is tightly tensioned. I wouldn't guess its that; It's very tight.
Has new brakes and rotors; new rear hatch struts; the front air suspension was converted to the expensive coilover system that typically replaces these air ride suspensions in these older Allroads. Trans shifts good; I believe most of everything in the interior works; back seat and trunk areas are nice; front driver's seat isn't ripped but leather has lost some of it's sheen in places. (leather is still intact). Front passenger seat is ripping on the seam.
We are not mechanics, and the most I do with cars is change oil and the occasional alternator or battery, etc. At this time we have taken the car off the road, and have purchased a new vehicle to replace this one. We believe this car has value. These cars in similar condition but running easily sell for $2, 500 to $3, 000. Could be an easy fix? Could need an engine? If you're the type of person who can put an engine in this thing yourself, or diagnose an electrical issue, you could instantly make over a grand in profit.
