1967 Austin Healey 3000 BJ8 Mark lll 49, 000 miles original (WITH SHIPPING PAPERS). Survivor in great driving condtion, SOLID EVERYTHING! 2nd owner!This original example is ready to drive anywhere! Very well sorted and ready to enjoy!
FIRST A LITTLE HISTORY: Taken off the essembly line and shipped to Barcinola Spain at special request 1967, originally was ment to be shipped to Chicago. Spent a short time in Spain then was loaded onto the Spanish sea liner COVADONGA From Spain it was shipped to Bilabo New York port (I HAVE THE ORIGINAL SHIPPING PAPERS) then taken to to its original owner in Valparaiso IN. Where this Healey called home until I bought it from a estate in 2007. I have a old news paper clipping of the original owner being installed as President of the Ellwood works management Assn. of U.S steel. Found in the glove box with his golf tees and 8 track tape Like going back in time! I also have a picture of the sister Healey and owner that was built on the assembly line directly in front of mine.
CAR STRUCTURE: all solid top to bottom, solid floors, boot floor, toe boards, out riggers, frame rails with much of its original green pain still intact! Body panels very solid with original British racing green paint. (right dog leg could use very minor repair, nothing serious) just thought I would point it out.
INTERIOR: Very nice original interior with very crisp wood dash and clear gauges, panels, dash pad and rear seating area. I did add newer carpets and sound and heat insulation for a more comfortable ride. original seat covers and door panels are in very nice condition...I did replace the front seat foams with new ones.
Drive train and motor: All original and never removed from car, starts, idles and runs great! Car routinely driven on 100 mile trips most weekends with never a problem. Motor bay was nicely detailed to all original spec. I have original radiator that will go with car.
TRANSMISSION: shifts smooth in all gears and reverse, overdrive fuctions perfectly as it should and great on the interstate.clutch is in very good condition and engages smoothly.
BRAKES: all rebuilt front to back with new soft lines, front wheel bearings, cut rotors and rear drums, new rear brake cylinders, new brake master cylinders, clutch slave cylinders, including rebuilt calipers as well, converted to dot 5 for better reliability.
COOLING SYSTEM: New all aluminum radiator, Texas cooling fan, new water pump, proper sleeved thermostat, new hoses and clamps and fresh coolant added.
CARBURATORS, : newly rebuilt with S.U kits and property tuned for Midwest conditions. New Moss fuel tank and mounting kit installed for a clean fuel system. New S.U fuel pump for realiability.
TIRES: 5 New Nexon tires and tubes and balanced with new alignment . Wheels blasted, primed and painted. Original jack, tounnue cover, hood cover and all original tool, battery cover, and bags included.
New spin on oil filter kit installed for better reliability. New battery and regulator for a reliable charging system. Oil pan was removed, cleaned and resealed before first start up. New tune up parts and Lucas sports coil and Fan belt. Perfectly timed to 15 degrees BTC with digital timing light for fast starts.
Electric system all original and fuctions perfectly in great condtion.
Original paint is what can be expected from a 50 year old car! But still in presentable condtion for its age as is the original soft top, has split seems however can be restitshed. Body has some dings as can be expected but nothing serious. Since the car is a survivor I wanted to leave the paint and top alone...like wearing a comfortable old leather jacket! They are only original Once! And not many in existence like this example! I simply wanted to do a historic restoration to a already nice condition original time capsule Healey.
