We are proud to offer this very original 1958 Austin-Healey 100-6 BN4 on consignment sale from one of our customers. Big Healeys have been gaining attention from collectors in recent years, as they offer both an excellent driving experience and a sound investment. The 100-6 was the first of the six cylinder Healeys, succeeding the original four cylinder Austin-Healey 100. This 1958 model is a BN4 2+2 variant, and has the original transmission and gallery port head. If you are looking for an early Healey to enjoy and/or preserve, this mechanically and cosmetically sound, unrestored example is a car worthy of your serious consideration. It is an excellent candidate for minor restoration.
Please review market prices on these cars on Hemmings, Hagerty and results from auction houses. Fully restored examples are being offered for sale between $50k and $60k USD, and complete cars are often in the high $30s. We are offering this 100-6 for far, far less, and with very minimal work and investment, it's value will be greatly increased.
The exterior red paint shows very nice with a detail, and was reported to the current owner to be mostly original (the front and passenger sides of the car show signs of some paintwork and repair). There are chips and scratching on the driver rear quarter panel and minor scratches elsewhere. All exterior chrome trim is present and in mostly nice condition, with the exception of some pitting on the mirrors and supports, the upper front grille and minor pitting elsewhere, pictured below. The aluminum trim around the passenger compartment is complete, though with fairly heavy nicking and oxidation. There is light cracking on various weatherstripping and body grommets which seal the turn signals, side mirrors, etc. Chrome trim around the front turn signals is heavily worn. There are minor rust bubbles behind the headlight bezels. The knock off style wire spoked wheels are also in very good condition, with no missing or broken spokes. While the side screens are included (see photos), no convertible top, frame or tonneau cover is present.
As this 100-6 is regularly driven by the current owner, it currently registered and inspected in the state of New York. All lighting, gauges and electrical components have been recently serviced are in perfect working order. The tires are fresh with roughly 50% of tread depth remaining. The inline six cylinder engine is smooth and powerful, with no hesitation during throttle transitions, the transmission shifts smoothly and the clutch engages easily and holds firmly. Braking is excellent, and the chassis is free of any squeaks or rattles. As mentioned above, the engine is the original gallery port head style. Austin-Healey upgraded the cylinder head design in 1959, and many early big Healeys have had either the head or the entire engine upgraded to the newer design. This 100-6 has the original head, manifold and carburetor arrangement.
The interior in below average condition, though it is mostly complete, missing only the rear seat. The driver's seating surface is free of cracks or tears, and the seat padding and frame are sound. The rear upholstery on it should be replaced, however. The passenger seat has a significant hole and several splits, and the passenger grab handle is worn and pitted. The parking brake handle is present, though difficult to see in the photos, as it is tucked tightly next to the passenger seat.
Photographs are shown below of the underside of the chassis, which has surface rust in some areas, though it is free of major structural rust, with no obvious signs of previous repair. The body seams have surface rust along the lower portion in several places along the sides and rear of the car.
The fuel tank is brand new, having been replaced recently due to corrosion caused by a battery leak. The battery is also brand new and turns the engine over readily.
Please review all of the photos below to see details of the areas described above, and feel free to email me with any questions you have regarding the condition of the car.
Specifications for the Austin-Healey 100-6 are as follows:

- 2, 639 cc 117 bhp gallery port inline six with dual SU HD6 carburetors - Optional 4 Speed Overdrive GearboxDriving this car is fantastic. It's a time machine into a different era of motoring. The original straight 6 and SU carburetors give the car a unique and beautiful sound. The transmission, shift knob and linkage combine to give an exceptional feel. It was a special surprise for me to discover how enjoyable a fully mechanical car of this vintage can be. Beautiful when viewed from any angle, it's impossible not to love, and parked anywhere, it draws admiring looks and questions.

A little bit about me: my name is Doug, and together with my friend Mark we formed Queen City Motorsport Collection in 2014. We've sold cars to buyers locally and across the eastern half of the United States, and specialize in selecting and selling interesting cars to knowledgeable enthusiasts like yourself. We only purchase cars we'd want to own ourselves, and we have each one gone through thoroughly by a certified mechanic. We drive each car extensively to ensure that it's exactly as described, and detail and photograph them personally so that we can describe the cosmetic condition as accurately as possible.
We're located just outside of Buffalo, New York and are just a ten minute drive from Niagara Falls, one of the great natural wonders of the world. While we are capable of shipping cars anywhere in the United States, many of our customers choose to come pick up their cars in person and enjoy a weekend trip to the Falls and to a resurgent and revitalized downtown Buffalo. We look forward to hearing from you or meeting you, for those who make the trip to come see us!
