AN5L Bugeye Sprite. Black Plate
California car. Purchased by original
owner in Sacramento, CA. I purchased car
from that owner in 2009, car had been sitting in garage since 1989. Upon
purchase, I did complete restoration from bare shell up. What’s new or rebuilt? Just about everything. I have complete record and receipts. This car is stunning, and has earned seven
first in class awards in seven major British car shows entered. The car gets raves everywhere it goes, and
was featured in the Jan-Feb 2011 issue of Austin Healey Magazine. Upgrades from
original are for safety and drivability.
Engine: 1098 (10CC) rebuilt by professional in 2013, includes mild street cam, Gerards rear seal kit, Moss spin-on oil filter kit, Pertronix Flamethrower distributor, Lucas sport coil, twin HS2 SU carbs rebuilt
by SU Carbs, rebuilt starter and generator. New flywheel ring gear, timing
gears & chain, oil pump. New exhaust system and muffler. New ECCO
electronic fuel pump. Fuel tank cleaned
and lined, new lines, K&N filters throughout.
Cooling: New radiator, water pump with high flow Moss
elbow, new 6 blade fan, all new hoses, etc., including Teflon bypass hose.
Transmission: Ribcase 4 speed rebuilt by Mini-Mania in
2013. New trans. front cover with seal upgrade in 2015 by Mini Mania. New Borg & Beck clutch, and clutch slave cylinder with remote bleeder
system, 2015. New driveline u-joints.
Brakes: Front disc, with all new discs, calipers, hard and flex lines. New rear drum
systems, lines, and new master cylinder. New parking brake system.
Wheels: New Dayton 60 spoke chrome wheels. (Not the
cheap import wheels!) New wire wheel spline hubs on all axles. 155/80R-13 Kumho radials with tubes (5).
Spare wheel painted, not chrome.
Suspension: New shocks front and rear. New complete front
suspension rebuild. New rear radius arms
and bushings, new rear rebound straps.
Electrical: New wiring harness, bulbs, etc. New battery
2013, in Moss battery tray liner. The wiper and heater motors are in place, but
have not been connected. The car was not
ever going to be in weather that needed them !
Body:
British Racing Green with white stripes and red accent stripes. No rust. No body filler. All metal either
polished or new chrome. New bullet mirrors. Dual AMCO wind deflectors (rare). Aston quick release locking fuel cap.
Interior: Custom upholstery and carpet. All flats, doors, and firewall covered with
Dynamat sound/heat insulation before upholstery installation. This Bugeye does
not sound like a tin can when on the road. All instruments work. Tach rebuilt by Nosinger Instruments. New tach and speedo cables. New Tourist Trophy wood rim steering wheel
and hub. All new rubber, grommets, seals, etc, including Bristleflex door seals.
The
original steering wheel, top frame, side curtains, front bumper with overiders
and license frame, two blade cooling fan, door interior panels, and new heater
intake duct hose are not installed but included with car.
Misc: New badges, tail lights, etc. All receipts
and records. Austin Healey registry. I
have probably missed listing items, but the car is basically outstanding. Current California title.
