Concours Winner Maintained Without Regard to Expense
Absolutely Irreplaceable Classic
Don't wait on this one, a Concours winner like no other with super low miles and spotless inside and out. In 2015, the Rolls Royce Owner's Club of Southern California recognized this 1988 Bentley Continental MPW DHC by featuring it on the front cover of their prestigious magazine. Now this pristine classic convertible (with VIN#SCBZDO2A9JCX22023) is being offered exclusively by BlueChip Motorcars.
The car is fitted with crystal cocktail sets in the door pockets, picnic tables and a William Rau steering wheel that complements the interior perfectly.
In its lifetime, it has made its way from Bethesda (MD), through Boca Raton, St. Louis, and Charleston (SC), on its way to a Concours at Santa Anita hosted by the RROC, while traveling only 39, 000 miles. The Continental of this period is unique in history; an important part of the decision to bring the Bentley brand back to prominence.
In the S-Series days it was a lightened car, intended to improve high speed touring on the “Continent.” With the Shadow’s change to unibody construction, true coachbuilt cars from private firms became a thing of the past. This meant that Rolls-Royce could no longer produce a Continental chassis and ship it to a coachbuilder to fit a unique body to it. So, the Continental disappeared for nearly 20 years, until 1984. The name was revived for those who felt that the name Corniche was simply too common; only about 10 percent of the convertibles produced in this era were Continentals.
Along with its Mulliner Park Ward coachwork, it is distinguished from other Bentleys by its body colour grille. This beautiful PMC won
1st Place Concours
– Couchbuilt MPW, Corniche, & Camargue Series at the RROC So Cal Concours d’Elegance on March 28th at Santa Anita
. The Bentley also was selected for the cover of the prestigious Rolls Royce Owner's Club magazine of Southern California (see photo of actual magazine).
The name Bentley has become synonymous with elegance, perfection and uncompromising standards. Bentley has been producing quality performance cars since 1919 with six first place finishes at the 24 Hours of LeMans, the most recent in 2003. A ride comparable to no other, it doesn’t get any better than this. Impeccable attention to detail and unparalleled excellence is what defines the Bentley marquee. Mulliner Park Ward, the coach builder of this masterpiece, is renown world-wide for sculpting some of the most magnificent automobiles every built.
This Classic will be an attractive addition to any collection of high quality motorcars. Whether someone is looking for pure driving luxury, or an investment that will turn heads, this drophead will fit the bill.
SCBZDO2A9JCX22023 has been maintained without regard to expense and comes with receipts demonstrating the passion this owner showed in caring for this car.
Take a careful look at the images to validate the care that this classic has received. From the luxurious, supple leather seats to the exquisitely finished burl wood dash, to the private compartment in each door concealing your personal taste; you will note the care given to every last detail. This classic is the very best.

About Factory Correct Cars offered by BlueChip Motorcars
BlueChip
Motorcars periodically offers classic cars that may be listed as Factory
Correct, or Numbers Matching. Because there are many opinions about the term(s)
used to describe these types of listings, allow us to explain how BlueChip
Motorcars comes to that assessment.
As you may
know, depending on the source, the term “matching numbers, or factory correct, ”
may mean many things to many people. Purists might define it as a car with
every possible window crank, dash knob or even every nut and bolt is original
to the car from the time it left the production line. Although some classic
cars do exist in that rare condition, most do not.
The majority
of classic cars on the market were at some point in their ownership, restored
or repaired with NOS parts (new old stock) or licensed reproduction parts.
Whenever the information is available to us about the use of these parts, BlueChip Motorcars will gladly pass it along to the potential buyer.
BlueChip
Motorcars uses the term Factory Correct or Numbers Matching only to distinguish
a vehicle where the engine casting code corresponds with the VIN and Cowl Tag
code. If these codes tell the same story about the car in question, BlueChip
Motorcars then considers it to be a Factory Correct or Numbers Matching vehicle. However, unless otherwise stated, the
transmission, rear end, and transmission may or may not be original to the car.
BlueChip
Motorcars welcomes all potential buyers to verify all the information with a
qualified expert. We would be happy to email you all the numbers that are
obtainable on any vehicle where the term Factory Correct or Matching Numbers is
used.
