Offered up for sale is a two-owner, 1974 2002tii in Fjord Blue, the rebuilt engine (1993) has less than 77, 500 miles on it. All factory identification numbers match. It is the only year of the coveted square tail lights model which came with fuel injection. Because of its tri-spherical E12 head design (runs on regular), inertia reel seat belts and sturdier bumper brackets this final incarnation of the car that started a cult is considered one of the coveted models' to own. Few cars from the late 20th Century have stirred automobile enthusiasts souls with greater fervor than the venerable BMW 2002 - the first *successful* Sports Sedan. Today, due to time and neglect, their numbers have dwindled considerably. Solid, rust-free examples have become scarce. Fortunately, a number of these remarkable models ended up in Southern California where the dryer climate seems to have slowed the oxidation process, if not eliminated it completely.
I have all the service and repair records from the original owner. I also have all the receipts for service, parts and upgrades (over $50, 000.00) I have put into the car myself. The paint is new and the original color. The car was completely taken down to the metal to make certain there is no putty or bondo.
The chrome and trim are in good - but not perfect - condition. The grills are the correct style and are original to the car.
This is a solid car with solid floors, and new rear sub-frame which has adjustment for canter. No rust beyond light surface rust. The spare tire well and the rear wheel wells are solid and rust free - a common problem - even in drier climates.
The interior is original, including the tan German loop carpets, steering wheel and tan vinyl upholstery. There are a few small cracks in the dash. All gauges function and light up properly. The original door cards are good. The console-mounted radio is a period-correct Blaupunkt Frankfurt AM/FM model with dash-matched control knobs. It is attached to a period-correct original antenna mounted to the A-pillar. The radio lights up and plays AM and FM.
Mechanically, the car has been serviced by BMW in the San Diego area, BMW Santa Fe and Rex Goes Racing. The engine compartment is clean. There are no known leaks or problems. The driving experience is right out of the mid-1970s with great acceleration. All electrical switches and lights function properly. The 2.0 liter engine has excellent acceleration and power.

Radiator, water pump, thermostat 80* and all radiator hoses,
Ignition switch, shifter parts and bushings,
Valve cover gasket, all intake manifold gaskets, crankcase vent hose all other hoses,
Tooth belt, air conditioning belt and fan belt,
(5) Rota R-20 rims, 15x6.0, 4x100, et29mm, hb57.1mm silver w/ BMW centers

The issues which remain to get this car perfect are: Sticks a bit if you are downshifting into 1st gear, the washer fluid pump does not work, the rear defrost does not work. There are a few small cracks in the dashboard.
