The car has been in my family since day one but it's become less relevant to me since I'm increasingly using my 4x4 for skiing/camping/etc...
I have receipts dating back to 94 that prove the meticulous care this car has received. It's always been maintained with a BMW certified shop.
It's an extremely luxurious ride yet has a ton of performance when needed (I've heard this model referred to as the first german muscle car).
The photos show the good and the bad although for a 22 year old car the good is quite amazing. Believe me, the car is still a head turner.
Features:- This is the stretched version (indicated by the L) which gives 4.5 of extra leg room for rear passengers- The engine is an all aluminum 32 valve V8 DOHC producing 282 hp- Apparently there's a self-imposed speed limit of 155 mph because it can reach 186 mph very easily- Rear defroster
Pluses:- Interior in great shape, no rips- A/C and heat works great- Sunroof perfectly functional- All windows roll up and down- New 17 Beyern alloy wheels and Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3 tires with 6k miles (under warranty until 9/17/2017) ($1600)- New steering gearbox and hoses ($1400 + $350)- New transmission mounts and flex disc ($500)- New muffler clamps ($100)- Engine runs like new, tons of power- Recent struts ($800)- Recent self-leveling suspension ($1200)- 3 spare keys ($100)- Stereo still rocks
Minuses:- Rear window sun visors needs manual assistance when lowering. This is usually non-functional on other vehicles.- Minor oil leak from valve covers, new gaskets needed ($400)- Brakes will need replaced in 10, 000 miles ($550)- Drivers door lock sticks in cold weather- Upper windshield washer reservoir ($164)- High beam light works perfectly but has rock hole which collects some water ($195)- Paint beginning to peel on hood and passenger fender. Concours Collision Center is no longer in business, go figure.- Rear left damage from driveway mishap- Windshield cracked ($540)- A/C works but only on center/right and far right vents (fan really blasts so car still cools quickly)
Note: Carfax shows auction on 4/8/2009, not true. Due to fender damage exceeding the ridiculously low blue book insurance wrote total loss on 7/2/2009.
