The car was originally built and sold in Canada. The option packages available in Canada are a little different than the packages available in the US. In Canada the interior packages available are:
Neso, Carpo and Halo (in the US we have Giga, Terra and Pure Impulse World).
This car has the Halo package, which is the highest level option package available for the Canadian built I8.
You can see that this car is loaded and has many of the elements of the US Pure Impulse World Package including the Anthracite Headliner, iBlue seat belts, iBlue stitching on the seats and dash as well as interior blue accent lighting blue surrounding the steering wheel.
The interior is a stunning Dalbergia brown leather. (I like it more than the Carpum Spice Grey Leather interior as it will not show dirt or wear. In Canada the Carpum Grey interior is actually only available on the less expensive Nero Option package). The floor mats are all black velour and perfectly match the carpets. The engine trunk cover is a black fabric and the brake calipers are black matte which match the inside of the wheels really nicely.
Please notice that I have also installed beautiful Frozen Blue wheel bands on the rims to protect the wheels. The wheel bands perfectly match the Frozen Blue highlights of the car and look beautiful (I have been asked about them 3-4 times).
The car is amazingly beautiful. The fit and finish of the vehicle surpasses that of any other car I have ever owned (sorry Porsche Cayenne) and driving the car is just plain fun! The inside of the cabin is beautifully crafted and the Dalbergia Brown leather seats are supportive and comfortable. The entire cabin is a little futuristic with a soothing blue glow from the accent lighting and the control panel (orange in sports mode) and the car finds the right balance between comfort/luxury and sportiness. The driver and passenger both have exceptional leg room and the interior of the car is quiet and luxurious. I think the car is fun and engaging to drive. It is smooth, quiet and luxurious at all times but can accelerate and handle like a true luxury sports car when asked.
I love the overall aesthetic of the car and the gullwing doors…I think BMW did a great job designing the doors and the look of the car in general. The doors work extremely well and I think the car is very easy to enter/exit BUT be prepared because the car does generate some attention. When you pull into a gas station or pull up to Valet the car at a restaurant or hotel, people are fascinated with how beautiful the car is inside and out and you will be subject of a lot of Iphone photos (wait until you open the scissor doors…)!
The car can be driven in an all-electric mode or in one of two (2) hybrid gas/electric modes. I found that the car would normally get in the 16-18 mile range in the all-electric mode. HOWEVER, I think BMW did a great job with the electric energy regeneration for the car. The gas engine not only provides power for driving the car but also regenerates the batteries electrical charge. I found this to be an AMAZING feature because it meant that the car almost always has some electrical charge in the battery and that I almost NEVER had to charge the car at home. I never had to charge the car at an electric car charging station away from home.
Why am I selling?
As you can tell, I really love the car and I’m only selling it because we are renovating our house and now we need the money for the home renovation. .
I have taken great care of the car (I have had it since October 2015 and put ~ 2000 miles on the car. The original owner had put ~ 1766 miles on the vehicle). Almost all of those miles have been small trips from the South San Francisco Bay Area up to and around San Francisco. Perhaps a total of 20 trips. The vehicle was professional detailed in April 2016 at Deep Reflections Auto Detailers in Los Gatos, CA and driven directly into my enclosed garage where it has been stored without further use pending this auction. I know the original owner kept the car in pristine condition, also in an enclosed garage and when I received the car it truly was in like new “as if driven off the lot” condition.
The car has always been kept in a smoke-free environment.
