I found this 1954 Buick Century in a local wrecking yard. It was sitting on the brake drums. It had no wheels. There is NO TOP. Somebody did a great job of removing it though.
I bought 4 wheels and 4 used tires along with 20 lug bolts. Not lug nuts. Lug bolts. Remember those? We had to modify the wheels slightly to get them to fit then loaded it onto my trailer. See the last 2 pics as we left the wrecking yard. Next we added a set of Bonneville style wheel disc hub caps.
We literally saved the old gal from the CRUSHER!
The 322 CID V8 nailhead motor runs very well! The Dynaflo trans works great and goes forward and backward as it should.
The body is very straight! It is almost completely rust and dent free. The paint seems to be Rustoleum or something but looks ok from 10 feet away.
The headlights work. The tail light lenses are missing.
The generator has been replaced with an alternator but is not hooked up. We are working on that.
The tires, battery and brakes are all good.
What it needs:
The exhausts are not hooked up, but present. We are working on installing them.
The trans leaks fluid. Not profusely, but, it does leak.
The tail lights need lenses.
The gas tank is in the trunk and needs to be sealed then installed. We are currently running it out of a gas can.
The headlight rings are missing.
This is a fun old car! We have been driving it around my rural neighborhood and getting a lot of thumbs up!
I have an appointment to get it inspected at the DMV for a title. I have a bill of sale from the wrecking yard. The tags on the black, California plate are from 1965! I guess that it has been sitting for 50 years!
I am asking $2000 OBO No I won't take $1000 as I have a lot more than that in it. I have too many projects to give her my attention any time soon so I am passing her along to someone who does have time.
I am located in Nipomo Ca 93444 about 90 miles North of Santa Barbara and 10 miles South of Pismo Beach. I have a car trailer and can deliver her, for a fee, after she is paid for in full.
