Please note: please read my description fully and ask any questions you might have prior to bidding on this car. I will honestly answer and provide any information you need to make an informed decision, but bidding or clicking BUY IT NOW is a contract for a purchase. If you want to view the car before bidding please contact me to make arrangements I'm glad to show it to you.
Up for sale is my 1986 Buick Grand National. This is my personal car registered and insured to me. It is a real Grand National, not a clone made out of a Regal.
My family has enjoyed the car but other priorities (including a baby and some household needs) has determined that it's time to sell. Great car overall that we will miss.
I consider this to be well beyond a parts car but not a show car. The car starts on the first turn of the key but does run a little rough until warm (I am told this is when the car goes to closed loop). I have spoken with several people regarding this who tell me this is very common with Regal T Type and GNs. When warm the car has huge power, and goes down the road straight. The water pump is noisy but the car runs and drives fine and cool. The transmission was rebuilt by a local shop specializing in 200R4s in these cars (stock specifications) and shifts great. The exhaust from cats back is almost brand new without even surface discoloration on it it's so fresh. The body has rust free floor pans and trunk pans, and has dings and scratches consistent with a 29 year old car. Surface rust on left rear quarter. The roof has a few dings too and the front of the roof has had some sealer applied at some point. The car needs a good paint job and minor body work to make it really stand out. It looks fine from 20 feet but it has been repainted and it needs a good update. It also needs front bumper fillers and gaskets around the windows (as almost all of them do).
The car goes down the road fine, brakes feel good, and wheels are in great shape with all tires 50% or better. The interior is very presentable, with a pull on the lower bolster of the driver's front seat. The headliner and visors were redone in original materials and look terrific.
This car is rare, and is one of roughly 1200 made with automatic climate control. The heat and fan work very well, the a/c blows warm.
Overall, this car is a great driver that I would not hesitate to get in and drive several hundred miles with no concerns. I have recently driven it twice (it's a 4th car in our 2 driver household) during which I went at least 50 miles out and back on the highway. I love how the car gets down the road, and if you stand on it even at highway speeds it responds with authority. Adult owned. The great thing about these cars is they are big enough to enjoy with your family, but fast enough to embarrass the local smart guy in a 5.0 Mustang or Civic with a soda can exhaust haha.
Family needs force it's sale. If I were the next buyer I would do the body work and paint the car and resew the driver's seat. Tune it and it's ready to go to the local cruise night or local drag strip. The great thing about this car is you can drive it as you make these minor improvements. Everywhere I go in it draws a crowd. I truly hate to sell but I know the next buyer will love it as much as I did. Please keep in mind this is a 29 year old car has and has flaws consistent with that age, but overall it's a very nice car. The new buyer will be provided a bill of sale as CT does not title cars over 25 years old. If you are in another state that needs the title, the DMV gave it back to me when I registered the car so I'm glad to hand that over too once payment has cleared.
I have listed the car at a very reasonable price to facilitate it's sale. Please bid to win-your bid could potentially be the winner so please ask any question prior to doing so. Also please bid once you know funds are in place and with full knowledge of any other decision makers. Your bid is a bid to buy, not a bid to come look the car over. If you would like to come see the car prior to bidding, contact me and we will make arrangements. I'm not afraid for anybody to see the car, you will only bid higher after seeing it. As you can see by my feedback, I've successfully sold hundreds of things on Ebay nationally and internationally including several cars. I try to provide a complete listing and will answer any questions you may have prior to your bid so you can feel comfortable about your purchase. $500 deposit immediately upon close of auction via Paypal, with balance due within 7 days by cash, certified funds, or wire transfer. I might be able to work with you on allowing more through Paypal if it facilitates the sale-please contact me before bidding to discuss. You are welcomed to come pick the car up or have it shipped at your expense. I will gladly help your shipper pick it up-it can be driven right into a trailer or driven home. Obviously because of age and miles the car is sold as-is. The car is listed locally for sale as well.
Thank you for looking and for your bids. I expect the new owner to be very happy with the car.
