Buick LeSabre (2002)
for sale
Price: US $1,200.00
Price: US $1,200.00
I am selling a 2002 Buick LeSabre. It is the
Custom model. I am asking $1, 200, plus transfer of ownership costs. I am not
interested in bargaining on the price. I will list everything that I know about
this car, so that you know exactly what the deal is. Kelley Blue Book and
Edmunds both list the car at about $2, 400 for the condition it is in (see
pictures posted).
Please read the following carefully. It fully
lists and explains everything about this car:
Problems with car:
1. Fuel Gauge is not accurate lower than half of
a tank (you must reset trip odometer and mpg and pay attention to how far you
have driven since you filled up, and look to see how many mpg you have gotten, and do some simple math to see when you need to fill up)
2. Air Conditioner is not working (have not
attempted to fix it).
3. Rear passenger-side window does not work
(permanently stuck in up position. Known problem for Buick LeSabres. I
personally replaced the mechanism in the driver window. About an hour of work, and $60 for the part to replace it on my own. Part is third party, but is rated
higher than original part that comes with the vehicle.)
4. Back-lit buttons do not all light up (when
night time, some of the backlights do not illuminate for things like air flow, radio, etc. Knowing where the buttons are before it's dark helps.)
5. Headlight button tends to stick (normally do
not need to use, as car automatically turns on lights when dark, but worth
noting. Easy enough to get button unstuck by opening the mechanism)
6. Leak in coolant (leak is in the reservoir, not the coolant system. Coolant will stay in your system, but the reservoir
will leak. I was quoted $270 to fix the leak, but chose not to do it because
the leak did not extend past the reservoir.)
7. Leak in power steering (I have to top off
power steering fluid about once per week, as there is a slow leak. I have been
using leak stop power steering fluid, and the refill rate is now closer to once
per month, but that could depend on driving conditions and weather. It is not
too bad to check and fill. I was quoted at $431 to fix the leak. I chose not to
fix the leak, and to instead check my power steering fluid levels regularly. If
you start hearing a whirring sound, especially when turning, it means the fluid
is low, and you should top it off next chance you get. Car will come with
everything needed to add fluid, and I can show you how to do it quickly.)
8. The Check Engine light is on (I got it
checked by AutoZone and Monro, and it reported these codes (codes may differ at
other dealers, I don't know):
P0442 -- Small leak in in Evaporation system
(mechanic says it's common, and should not effect driving or safety)
P0473 -- Fuel level sensor circuit signal
high/open (this is why the fuel gauge is not accurate past half way
point)
P1811 -- Maximum adapt and long shift (mechanic
said that it's likely because the car is older and high mileage. Basically, sometimes the gear shift can take a little longer than normal, or the shift
might be a little harsh. It can be caused by a number of things, but was told
it's likely not a problem, and may never need fixed, unless the shifting
becomes noticeably bad. I have not noticed any problems with it shifting gears, or it acting any differently than when I first got the car.)
9. Small dent (from a softball) on trunk
lid. (It is hard to see in most situations unless you are very
close and specifically looking for it)
Things that have been fixed/repaired:
1. Gas lines were replaced 3 years ago
2. All brake pads and rotors replaced 1 year
ago
3. Oil change every 3, 000 miles while I have
owned it (important to keep on top of oil changes, especially with older
cars)
4. Passed PA state inspection last 3 years with
nothing needed. Previous to that it needed a sensor replaced to pass emissions
(sensor that sensed Carbon Dioxide and/or Monoxide levels or something like
that).
5. I replaced the up/down mechanism in the
driver's window about 1.5 years ago
6. I replaced one headlight bulb about 2 months
ago. Extra still in trunk if ever needed.
7. Windshield was replaced about 1.5 years ago
(a crack formed due to a rock hitting the windshield on the highway)
Good things about the car:
1. Has always started easily
2. Gets decent gas mileage for a full size sedan
(around 18 city, 28 highway, 22 combined in my experience)
3. Comes with upgraded key fob that includes
remote start and auto trunk open (not original, added by previous owners).
Works from about 1000 feet away if in the open (good if you forget where you parked, like I do frequently)
4. Better acceleration than our other car, 2013
Honda Fit.
5. Very smooth ride
6. Leather interior with heated seats
7. In good cosmetic condition
8. Very little rust
9. Has automatic headlights (will turn on when
dark enough), and automatic windshield wipers (certain settings will sense how
much rain there is and adjust the wiper speed accordingly)
Car comes with:
1. All fluids and equipment needed that I use on
the car (brake fluid, coolant, funnels, etc.)
2. Extra pair of tires (car currently has winter
tires with good tread on front, all-season tires with average tread on back, and comes with 2 winter tires with average tread)
3. Extra wiper blades (received for free on
multiple oil changes, but wipers were still in good condition, so I just got
the new pair and saved them)
4. Cassette to mp3 converter
5. Extra headlight bulb
6. Two sets of keys with upgraded key fob
(remote start and auto open trunk. Has other features as well, but those are
the two most useful)
I am the third owner of this car. Previous to
me, it was owned by an elderly lady in Ohio, and previous to her, it was her
husband, who was the original owner. When I bought the car in 2010, it had
about 72, 000 miles on it. I purchased a Carfax on the car when originally
bought it, and it had a clean record. It has never been in any accidents or
anything like that since I have had the vehicle. I do not have official
paperwork for things that I have done for the car (oil change receipts, maintenance
receipts, etc.), but I am being very upfront with everything that I know about
the car, both good and bad.
The pictures show how the car is now. All items
that have not been listed as coming with the car will be removed prior to
purchase. Please contact me via message if interested. I
expect most people to want a test drive. We can schedule a time and location
for a test drive upon request. Location will be in the Butler city area, and I
will provide you with an address. Time will have to be decided upon ahead of
time. I have some availability after 7 pm on Mon, Wed, Fri, and availability on
most weekends. However, like I said, time and location will be specified if you
are interested.
Thank you. Please only contact me if you have read
everything above, and you are not interested in haggling on the price. I will
be happy to answer any questions to the best of my ability if you are
interested.
