The 66 Riviera is a muscle car that crosses the boundaries from a very capable street fighter to a high end luxury car. Because of that, and because it cost more than just about any other muscle car of the era makes for the possibility for one like this to exist in original form. Something this expensive was less likely to have the standard issue muscle car abuse and neglect program given to GTOs, Camaro’s, etc... then slapped back together and called original today. It has the aggressive styling and big block 430 cubic inch V8 that put this car on the muscle car map.
As one would expect, 1966 was another year in the spotlight for Buick, the radical Riv stood out from other cars with its revolutionary styling, superior handling characteristics, incomparable interior spaciousness and a flow of power that left others behind on the road!
This 1966 Riviera is a time capsule.



This incredible one year only production is an all original car except for one repaint. Last tagged in 1978, the car has been in dry storage for over 35 years. I bought it late last year and it has been resurrected to an absolute killer. The last service Tag dated mid 1978 shows Odometer reading as 05600 approximately, the car is simply spectacular. Many decades later, it’s currently showing less than 200 miles since 1978. The body is straight & solid with no signs of body panel rust.
The front and rear chrome bumpers are in Show condition. All Chrome moldings and interior chrome bezels are in exceptional shape.
Inside, the Vinyl interior looks great and shows minimal signs of major wear. No rips or tears anywhere to the headliner. Only flaw is one rip on driver seat where seam has come apart, one small hole in front passenger seat and driver door pull. The carpet is also in good condition. The dash is as nice with no buckling. Lights, blinkers, rolling Speedo, fuel gauge and wipers work.
Extremely rare horseshoe floor shifter and console. Under the hood, the monster the 7 litre 430 Cu. in. V8 sounds great and starts with a turn of the key. The engine compartment is incredibly original apart from recent general maintenance.
The car is a Deluxe Model with Air Conditioning now converted and working.
It is fully power optioned, seats, rear view mirror, power windows, power steering and power brakes. It even has retractble seatbelts and reclining passenger seat – a very rare set of options.
The headlights flip up and down as they should. Underneath, the car is very solid with all original sheet metal. In the trunk, it appears to have the original spare and jack.
When you get behind the wheel of this Riv, the big block V8 starts right up and will take you down the road with tons of power & grunt. It drives and stops as it should for a low mileage Classic car.
