1964 Buick Riviera for sale : $2500
Looking to restore a 64 Riviera? This is the one to do up. Originally black exterior with black interior and a lot of options. The original engine that came with the car was a called a Super Wildcat 465. This was the dual quad engine. The numbers matching engine block is still in the car, The intake, carbs, valve covers and air cleaner have gone missing and are NOT included. The heads are off the engine and will need to be rebuilt, as will the engine. Still have most of the accessories and brackets. The AC brackets alone go for over $300 on eBay. The engine is a 425 c.i.d. Nailhead V-8. The name Super Wildcat 465 actually lets you know that it has 465 foot pounds or torque. That's a lot of torque!
As mentioned, the interior is originally black and most of it is actually not bad for its age. It has the woodgrain sport steering wheel which is as rare an option as are the dual carbs. The steering wheel is in very good condition for its age. It has only one crack in the wood hoop. I have seen ones with no cracks go for $500 on eBay, I figure this wheel is worth half that.
This car is very well optioned. It has power windows and power seats, but I have not tested these. Let's assume the motors will need to be rebuilt as this car has sat for a long time. The headliner is sagging, but looks good other than that, may be repairable. The headliner is silver, not black. There is a chrome trim that goes around it, and the chrome pieces are pretty rusty.
Unfortunately, there are some pieces missing. The bumpers are both gone. Looks like somebody started restoring this car and sent the bumpers off the chrome shop and never got them back. It is missing several pieces of the chrome and stainless trim. It is missing the cowl panel and wiper arms. It is missing some tail light brackets and tail light lenses. It is missing one set of bumper brackets, I have one set, but I don't know if is the front or back set.
There is some rust in the floor pan that will need to be addressed. The trunk seems be OK. I have not got the back seat out yet, so there may be some there. There are other small areas of rust in the rockers and under the rear window. All the glass is good and the windshield is pretty nice. The windshield was replaced, have receipts for that.
The suspension is all there, but the exhaust is rusted out. It still has the finned aluminum front brake drums. These cars were known for them and they look pretty cool. These cars were famous for their smooth riding suspensions.
There are other parts not seen in the pictures but are included, including a nice set of hubcaps. All the original steel wheels are there, including the spare. I sandblasted and painted them satin black.
Somebody has started to do bodywork and primer. A lot of work still left to do. RH quarter panel needs work, but it is savable. Same with the LF front fender, but you can get used replacement around $100.
All in all this is a very desirable very rare car.
Asking $2500 firm. Will include a 5.3 LS engine core for an additional $600 is you want to go the resto mod route. It's a truck motor and I have the computer for it. I also have the starter, AC compressor, and alternator with it. Most pulleys and brackets are present.
Restored with a regular single barrel carb set up, which will be easier to find, I thinks this car would be worth 15-20 K. If you can track down the dual quad setup (will cost you at least $1500, but they can be found), I think this car would be worth $20-25 K. Could so as high as $40 k with an LS resto mod build.
Have original pinks slip and lots of paperwork, can help you get new title no problem.
Please email me with any questions. The car is available for viewing in the Redding, CA area.
Paypal deposit of $300 is due initially, would prefer the rest be in cash upon pickup. Car rolls fine, but is heavy and is on a big hill. Be prepared.
