Description:

Here are some details of the 1996 Roadmaster Wagon. I hate to part with it but I need the space. This is a fabulous car!
CAR HISTORY
My family is the second owner of this car. The original owner drove it as a seasonal vacation car for about 10 years. Someone damaged the front left fender. Because the wood grain was obsolete, the insurance company totaled the car. Fred Lesinsky, a renowned wagon guru (mostly_unusual_cars) prepared the car for us and the next chapter of its life. We took delivery with about 40, 000 miles on the odometer.
My dad drove the car as a second car for a few years, and then I did. I love the usefulness and uniqueness and the collector value. I always wanted to build a show car and so I did! I know I overspent, but why not go a little crazy instead of buying a Camry?
INTERIOR
Full Bentley/Ferrari Connoly grade leather EVERYWHERE. I mean the dash top, B pillars, even the little covers that go over the seat belt bolts. This was done by a top shop in LA that does work for Beverly Hills Ferrari. The work is top notch! I even contrasted the stitching in red. I spent $5, 000 on the interior alone. The seats are Mercedes-Benz MB-tex, they look great, evoke luxury and style, and never wear out! I even had the upholsterer do the diamond stitching like you would find in a Lamborghini. Headliner is beautiful, lush, black suede and coordinates with the door panel tops and dash inlay. The interior is DEAD PERFECT and what you would find on a new $100k+ car. All switches were replaced with N.O.S. units when the interior was done. Carpets are of course new and the seatbelts are N.O.S. too.
The carpet is from ACC and is the 80/20 loop with the mass backing. ACC did not make a carpet kit for the cargo area and third row seat so I had my upholsterer make a carpet set out of Mercedes-Benz Feintuff Velour which is very nice, plush, and wears like iron too.
Guess what? I even heated the seats! Even the third row is heated. If you look closely in the picture you can see the switch!
ENGINE/TRANS
Stock 2 bolt LT1 engine/trans. Serviced (new plugs, filters, fluids, etc.) with factory parts and runs perfectly. Amsoil throughout.
$2, 000+ stainless mandrel bent exhaust system from Clear Image Automotive. Includes stainless Tri Y headers (I have stock manifolds jet coated black that will go with the car) Exhaust looks and sounds really nice! It is quiet but has a good tone (Dynomax super Turbos and resonators) and exits in the stock location.

I have a Clear Image Automotive cold air kit that will go with the car-never installed.
I also have a new set of AC Delco plug wires.
New distributor and water pump and radiator and radiator and heater hoses
Engine hood insulation is ratty-I was thinking of painting a mural on the underside of the hood but I will leave that up to you.
A/C ice cold-new compressor
New Nitto tires and recent optima battery.
The car is mechanically bone stock, low mileage, super reliable, and runs very strong! I have clocked 21 MPG.
ELECTRONICS
I went nuts here too. I spent over $11, 000 on the electrics alone! A custom bandpass subwoofer was made just for this car. Two ArcAudio amps, an Pioneer AVIC-Z1 head unit with DVD and Navigation, redundant video in the rear view mirror plus a drop down, I even put in a power inverter and X box. Naturally there is a hookup for an iPhone or iPod but if you want to change it there is a standard USB connection. If you look closely at one of the pics you can see the X Box behind the little panel on the passenger's side. If you want to change your gaming device it is easy. It is all wired and working flawlessly. There is a video switcher (4x4 matrix) for easy expansion. I put in a backup camera in a very inconspicuous location- the '6' in the license plate. The camera feeds into the video matrix too. Very cool! The front door panels are custom and each hold dual Focal 6.5 drivers. There are two Arc Audio amps out of sight behind the interior quarter panels. The subwoofer is an Alumipro mounted in a custom bandpass enclosure that is mirrored on the inside, carpeted on the inside, upholstered on the inside, and, of course lighted with LEDs. I tried to capture this with a picture and if you look closely you can see my phone and the LED strip.
There is a flush-mounted display in the perfect location for a Valentine One radar detector. If you have ever used a V1 before you know these units are top-notch. The alternator is a hi amp unit that has been recently replaced. I even have a Whelen police strobe pack installed- the 100% real deal equipment that undercover cops use. Of course I have a Viper remote start alarm with Smart Start so you can start it from your phone!
WHEELS and TIRES
Again, more craziness. I spent $2, 500 sourcing N.O.S. Impala SS wheels and center caps. Three of these wheels now have some curb rash but they run straight and true and are new to this car. Tires are new Nitto Invo performance tires- the absolute finest rubber available in this size.
SUSPENSION
Again, more craziness, to the tune of $3, 000
The car has a complete suspension setup (and I mean everything) from B Body performance that is specifically tailored to these Wagons. It makes the car handle well without being low or rough riding. I had the springs calibrated so the car wouldn't be too low. It handles super well. New Bilsteins all around. New rear control arms designed just for the wagon. New (uninstalled) complete steering linkage. The car drives very very well. You will be amazed at how well such a large car can handle.
Body and Paint
As you can see the car is all black. I shaved the sunroof and filled it with steel. This is a custom paint job that includes hours of blocking without any orange peel. I spent $5k on the body and paint alone. Even the undercarriage has been detailed. I took a shot so you can see the floor pans are rust free as a California car should be.
NOS parts
While I could get them, I bought New Old Stock switches for every door and every component in the dash. Everything is new new new and super crisp. The outside door handles are new. Lights? new. Seatbelts? Yes, new. Cerified car nut? Yes. Did I spend too much money on this car? Yes. Is my loss your gain?
Whats wrong with the car?
The bumpers need to be painted. I have a NOS rear bumper that will go with the car if you didn't want to use the parking sensors any more. The hood (which has an easily fixable golf ball size dent) and roof need paint (I was thinking of vinyl wrap but I will leave that up to you) too. There are about 6-10 small dents (you probably cant see them like I can) all over the car but I wanted to be fair in pointing them out. This can be fixed by a paintless dent guy. The underhood insulation is shot. I was planning on either painting a mural under the hood or waiting until I repainted the hood before replacing the underhood insulation but I will leave that up to you. You can get new insulation from any GM dealer for about $90. The Viper alarm needs to be re-calibrated to run the car for more than a minute (you can set this to any time you like up to an hour). The passenger's side front power door lock actuator needs to be replaced. The tailgate door jamb should be touched up (perfect would be to do this when the roof is re-painted or vinyl wrapped) The aftermarket parking sensors are broken. The wheels have some curb rash but not too bad.
In short, I fixed up this fine wagon and drove it for a bit. I spent on this what many people would spend on a loaded Toyota Camry. I don't need it anymore and do not have the space, so it must go.
If you are shipping the car I recommend Dependable Auto Shippers. I have used them before and they are very easy. I can assist getting the car to D.A.S. or any carrier of your choice. I want to make this an easy and fun experience for you.
I'm sure I have more spare parts than listed and will send them to you after you buy the car and after I clean out my storage unit. I just moved and you know how that goes. Don't be surprised if you get some boxes of goodies.
I have a brand new evolution 4 car cover with the VIN embroidered on the front and the rear surfaces of the cover too.
You will absolutely love this car and get thumbs up wherever you go
