Buick Special 41 Trunkback 4 door sedan (1937)
for sale

Description:

I purchased this Buick a few years ago as an unfinished project. I intended to make it into a good driver to take from Florida to the Woodward Dream Cruise and back. We accomplished this in 2014.
The car has a front suspension and rear differential from a mid 70's Camaro that were totally rebuilt when installed. Both front and rear power disc brakes and power steering. The motor is a rebuilt early 70's era 454 Chevy backed up to a rebuilt 700r4 which allows 70 mph cruising at less than 2000 rpms. The motor is cooled by a Walker Radiator and shroud with 2 pusher and 1 puller fans controlled by a pressure/temperature switch and the Vintage Air control panel. It has both cooling and heat for all year cruising. It runs cool even with the ac on in the Florida summer. The belts run on a Billet Specialties V Trac system with polished compressor and alternator. The motor is fed via a stock intake manifold with an Edelbrock carb with electric choke and fired with a stock HEI distributor with new cap and 8mm wires. Both the oil and trans fluid and filters were changed in the last 100 miles. The Odessey battery was relocated to the trunk.
All the windows, trunk, and door weather seals were replaced with Steele products along with hood bumpers, bumper grommets, running lights, license plate light, and all welting. All the window channel was replaced with a high quality replacement when the new tinted windows were installed. All the door have boom mat installed along with having been cleaned and sealed. New door and trunk handle grommets. The pot metal trunk hinges were replaced with stainless steel copies that allow the trunk to open further than the originals (to keep from bumping your head) along with dual hydraulic struts to ease opening and closing.
The car is painted with Eastwood Hot Rod Black (i think its made by Kirker) which is a satin black that you just keep dusted or simply clean with a simple water and ammonia mixture. All new Coker tires with less than 500 miles on painted 15x7 GM ralley wheels. The stainless steel hood center strip and the hood ornament are quality replacement items. The headlights were converted to halogen with a Hagen Headlight kit and remote controlled LED's were installed in the engine compartment (white) and the grille (red) for some special nighttime affects. LED's were also installed under the dash and in the trunk. A Newport electric wiper system was installed and works but the drivers side jumped a tooth on the chain and needs to be fixed. The running boards were removed, stripped, and recovered with a quality rubber matting in the last 6 months. The original replacement covers are $700 but these look very good and do the job on a driver quality streetrod.
Underneath the frame was cleaned and painted and I installed quieter, heat shielded mufflers to keep the warmth off the floor. The exhaust piping is aluminized steel and the tips are stainless steel.
The inside was insulated, both the floors, firewall, and roof. Car was wired with an EZE wire kit. The upholstery was tastefully done and is very comfortable with manual reclining seats. The carpet and headliner were also done at the same time and show minimal to no wear. Tilt steering column, Motorola radio and cd player, new glove box liner, all new dash and window knobs. The Dolphin gauges all work.
Car comes with the original front bumper and 4 over riders (all need re-chroming), extra rubber pieces, 1/2 gallon of Eastwood paint and hardener, Fisher Body manual, and all the aftermarket parts manuals. The car is an excellent, comfortable driver quality car with the normal paint chips that I try and stay on top of. Very popular car at all the shows and has been used in a number of photo shoots for graduations, etc..
I'm only selling because I always wanted a 71 Buick Riviera and I now have one to work on. Doesn't mean I have to sell it though and I do not need any help selling it.
I will consider a non-project car in trade (1932-1975) up to a value of $8000. If you have a question or want a photo of a specific area you can text, call, or email me. My phone is 813-727-8698.
