Price: US $5,000.00
If you are looking for a very clean and
affordable 93 Allante, this just may be it! The car is fun to drive and an
attention-getter! See photos for outward appearance --- I can provide more specific
photos upon request.
Because you are considering the 93
Cadillac Allante, you have most likely researched this model and know its illustrious
history; this is the last year model of a 7-year GM production. You most likely
know the vehicle specs, if not from research, from other advertised sellers
here on eBay. This is a 2dr
roadster/convertible (manual lift) with a big Northstar V8. The Allante is GM’s love child and costly
venture, a car that requires your extra care and attention, a total act of
love. Finding replacement parts (original
equipment or rebuilt) is an adventure.
I will share its personal history as
best as I know it. I purchased the car in 2005 from an elderly gentlemen in South
Florida; he purchased and registered it in Wisconsin and sold it to me with
just over 27, 000 miles. According to the
seller, he was the original owner and the car had not been wrecked or
structurally damaged. I obtained a CarFax which appeared to support his
claim. He bought the car for his wife in
1993 who had since died. According to him, it had set up, garaged, undriven, for a number of years. As you may know, a car that is allowed to set up over a period time undriven develops
deteriorating components and sediments. The security system had been disabled and did not work, and neither did
the CD player.
Upon purchase, I immediately had the car
detailed; the radiator flushed; the transmission oil changed; and battery, belts, hoses, and tires replaced with a thorough inspection performed by a Cadillac
dealership service department and any needed repairs performed at that time. I had the security system replaced with an
aftermarket one and also replaced the standard wheels with after-market American
Cragar mags to give what I considered a more appealing appearance. (See photos;
the original wheels are also available and included.) I also had the carpet
replaced to more attractively match the seats and other interior burgundy colors
(the original floor carpet was a clashing bright red, matching the trunk carpet).
Between 2005 and 2010, I drove the car
occasionally on weekends just to keep its juices flowing, putting about 3, 500
more miles on it during that time. In late
2010 the car became my everyday- driven vehicle with just over 52, 300 on it now. I have regularly maintained the car (synthetic
oils changes, battery replaced in March 2015.) including other replacement of
parts necessary resulting from normal age and wear [including engine control
module (ECM); ABS module; motor mount gaskets; AC compressor; radiator; rack
and steering repairs and parts replacements; shocks & struts; window
regulators and pw switches; muffler (giving it a throaty El Dorado sound);
wiper blades; antenna.] I have maintenance records.
Because it has been driven (but not
abused), in all honesty, the car is not “Show Room” condition as some described
on eBay. It has been well-taken care of and in much better condition than most other
cars its age. Other than normal exterior
scrapes and scratches (remember, the car is 22+ years old), the car has never
been wrecked during my ownership. I have had very small dents and dings removed
and cosmetic paint professionally applied when necessary (a small ding remains
in chrome strip on front bumper). In October 2014, I had the seats recovered to
original factory condition. The manual
top is in very good condition but the weatherproofing rubber strips around the
windows and doors are showing signs of aging wear and need replacing (the
desert air can contribute to those sort of things). With the exception of the
CD player, the car is in very good mechanical condition. I continually get
favorable comments and complements about its appearance, cleanliness, and
condition from strangers who see the car and approach me in curiosity. To ease
your mind, if you are a serious buyer and your interest remains, I will
provide, upon request, in response to your specific concerns, a detailed description
of any other defects I may have inadvertently missed herein.
I have done the best to describe the
car as I have it. The car is in Las
Vegas and very roadworthy (excellent opportunity to come to Vegas and take her
home, killing 2 birds with one stone!) The
tires have about 9, 000 miles on them. As an investment, speculators give it
high marks. If you are mechanically inclined and savvy, the car can be fund to
tinker with. However, original equipment
replacement parts are hard to find; I suggest the online Tom Ratner’s Allante
Shop in San Diego for rebuilt ones.
The price is competitive and I will
consider only reasonable offers. My
accepting price is very reasonable and below most other 93 Allantes advertised
here on eBay, considering its mileage and condition. The sale is final with no implied or
expressed warranty; an “As Is-Where Is” sale. Shipping is buyer’s responsibility. Email me with questions and I will provide honest responses. Thank you for your interest.
