Cadillac DeVille (1965)
for sale

Price: US $200.00

Description:

Hi Guys, I have owned this Cadillac for 4 years. I have gone through the entire car and given it the real test of being a daily driver.
There is really NOTHING like a Big Black Long Cadillac to stop the show.
This Cad very unique in that people from all walks of life break their necks looking at it and stopping to engage me in conversation about it. The clean, square, and sharp lines of the 65 are just timeless. When all 4 windows are down, it is an even sexier looking hardtop.
This car appeals to old men and urban youngsters alike. That is the crazy thing about this car...EVERYBODY loves it. Even rolling the Mustard and Mayo on wires does not make the older Cadillac crowd frown. It is not TOO much on the edgy side to lose ANY audience. The smiles and thumbs up are regular occurrences everywhere. Roll it into the Ritz Carlton and it gets parked up front, roll it into Downtown LA and gain instant credibility and nods from the tougher crowds. I park it at work and regularly people call the receptionist and ask if it is for sale. After 4 years, it is.
If you are shy, this will fix that. If you are younger and need a little help with the opposite sex, this will facilitate your quest. If you need some street cred, this is your instant solution. If you are a little nerdy and just need to cool it up a tad, be careful what you ask for. If you are none of the above but appreciate a cool classy Cad, welcome aboard.
Maybe it is just me, but I think a Daily Driver is the REAL test of a car. Can you hop into a car and drive from LA to New York without worry? That is what I look for and what I think really matters when you are looking for something to drive a lot, and not something to just drive occasionally.
I have built and owned trailer queens and museum level cars. Cars that have all new parts on them but no real world testing. New does not necessarily mean trouble free. It should, but that is not always the case.
This Cadillac has been my Daily for 4 years. Back and forth to work at least 4 times a week. Cars shows on weekends and regular 100 mile round trips. I have been the guy that has worked out all the bugs in this 50 year old. When you depend on it to get you there, you have a whole different approach to preventative maintenance than maybe something you can live with if it breaks down.
From cooling system repairs/maintenance, to power steering repairs/maintenance, to Transmission, driveshaft, rear end, brakes, heating/cooling, power accessories, suspension, wheels/tires, engine, carburetion, weatherstripping, emblems, alignments, etc. If it needed adjustment, replacement, or some other kind of love, it got it. A few
upgrades
I did perform on the car was a later model Cadillac front disc brake system along with Master and Booster. The car stops well and does not pull like a 65 with stock drums as they all had. It also has a OEM spec Edelbrock carburetor with electronic choke. Easy starts every time by going electric choke. This Cadillac shed the original single exhaust system that all of them have. It now has a custom built true dual exhaust running through Magnaflows. Nice sound. Tough, but not loud.
None of the work was done to make it look like the car was brand new. It was repaired to be functional and trouble free. For example, when I replaced the carburetor and ignition components, I had it dyno-tuned so it would run right/well, not necessarily for maximum horsepower.
Suspension and tires. This car is all about reliability. Meaning it does NOT have air bags. This awesome stance has been achieved with careful consideration to get it as low as possible and yet not rub when you U turn. There is no bottoming out on the tires even on the roughest highway swoop. Unlike airbags, it will not leak. Airbags are not a matter of DO they leak, they are a matter of WHEN THEY
WILL
leak. They look really cool when parked, but also with airbags you ONLY have the cool look when you are parked. You gotta raise it up to drive around. This is another crazy thing about this car...it rides so incredibly nice even though it looks slammed. Whether you are on the freeway doing 75 mph, or rolling around some not-so-great bumpy streets, it just handles it with ease and class. This is one of those drive with one finger power steering Cadillacs.
The car is lowered 3 inches. Special custom springs and shocks were made to allow this drop and still have an incredible ride. The car rolls on wires and Vogue tires. The tires are in excellent shape and showing no abnormal wear. They clean up nicely and look awesome. There is nothing like rolling the sauce. Mustard and Mayonaise gets all the respect.
The interior and trunk of the Cad are a very classy Bone color. Looks great against the Black exterior. The Carpet is the ultra highline Essex Plush style. Costs more, but very different than stock. Matching floor mats made from the same highline carpet The front seats are NOT OEM. But, if you have ever owned an old car, you will appreciate NOT sitting close to the dashboard. EVERY old car sits much closer than newer cars. If you are taller than 5'10, you eat your knees. This car has a great set of 3 piece seats that have a bucket look, but the center section can be flipped up in case you need the extra seat. UNLIKE the OEM seats, you can also recline and give your back a rest. Not only do you have a very nice riding suspension, but the seats also allow you to drive in comfort. Try sitting close and upright for a while and you will understand how old that gets. PLUS, no debris messing up your interior from 50 year old seats that shed foam underneath and gets everywhere. Finally, the look of the seats is just right. Many transplanted seats look HUGE and bulky. They look bloated and out of place. Ever see a seat belt coming out of the seat in an old car? It just doesn't look right and the first thing you think of is Escalade or worse. These seats are pretty understated and don't scream aftermarket too much.
Open the trunk and you will see it is fully carpeted. OEM cardboard covered with carpet. Bone carpet matching the interior carpet.
Entry lights work as they should, sail panel lights work off the OEM switch on the rear panel, power windows work, wipers work in both speeds, parking brake releases when you drop out of Park, blower motor functions, I think you get the idea. Clock does run a little slow, but it does function.
Factory blue tinted glass. I peeled the gray tint off because I love the look of 60's glass. Looks classy.
Optional Tilt and telescopic steering wheel wrapped in leather.
Has a hidden AM/FM/CD player in the ashtray area of the dash and an amp in the trunk. Many people put them in the glove box but then you can't put anything else in there.
The exterior was painted before I bought the car 4 years ago. I bought the car in Seattle and has lived in Southern California since, halfway between LA and San Diego on the coast.
If you are looking for a car you will enjoy EVERY SINGLE DAY, this is her. It is my favorite by far and I am over 70 cars deep by now.
Lastly, the title is in MY name at my address. It is clear and registration is current. No hidden issues with ownership.
I am happy to assist in shipping as long as we go through a legit escrow service.
