Description:

Up for auction is a 1985 Cadillac Eldorado. 142, xxx miles. The car was meticulously maintained and cared for, and runs and drives very well. Originally a Florida car; it has been in my family since 1989, and has spent the last 6 years in storage. I pulled it out of storage Aug 28 and put over 400 miles on it the following week commuting to work, running errands, etc. Mixed driving of around town and 55 mph roads has netted about 21 mpg average. The car is in mostly original condition aside from necessary mechanical repairs, maintenance, etc. The under hood is in tact and unmolested, the interior is in very nice original condition, and the trunk is like new. Paint is original, and although nice looking from 10-20 feet, exhibits the typical thin spots, cracking, and chipping associated with 1980's GM blue's and grey's. The body itself is solid and in good condition. No rust through, dents, etc. This car comes from a car family that does all of our maintenance, repairs, and care ourselves. I truly wouldn't hesitate to drive this car anywhere tomorrow.
Power seats, power windows, cruise control, AC, Bose stereo, and sunroof. Original Bose radio works perfectly and has a 10 disc CD changer in the trunk controlled by remote. The interior is very clean and with very little visible wear. All of the digital outputs work as they should and all interior options, switches, etc function as they should.
Things to Know:
1) The AC does work, but it did need a charge when I got it out of storage. It has been converted
to R134a freon that can be purchased at any auto parts store, Walmart, etc.
2) The sunroof works, but when closing it does need a touch of hand help in the final movements to
seat correctly. The vent shade is in tact but sticks in the track, so I just leave it open.
3) The rear shocks need replaced. It drives fine, but on rough roads or with additional passengers it
is noticeable. The original autoride system is in place.
4) The front tires are newer than the rears, but all are in good shape and are matching Michelin's.
5) The plastic filler panels are toast. Pieces of them have broken and fallen by the way side. Pieces
that are still in place are no good from a restoration standpoint. Pretty typical, and replacements
are available.
Anyone that knows these cars knows the 4.1 wasn't GM's best effort. It was probably a little ahead of it's time in structural design as new cars today have fully embraced it's concept. The good news is most professional's opinion of the motor is that you have a good one if it makes it higher up in miles without issue. This engine, for my family, has been great and runs very well to this day.
This car is not a show car, but a very nice driver. It always gets nods and compliments when I have it out. With new paint and a little TLC to the items above this would be a very nice car.
I'm selling this for my mom, and she would prefer payment and title work to be handled in person locally.
Thanks for looking. Please let me know if there are any questions.
Thanks
