These were actually authorized by Cadillac and could be purchased through the dealers. For more information check yahoo search for History of the Cadillac Mirage. The numbers built are estimates and range from under 200 to 240 but the 240 would include other modified versions of the Coupe Deville by Traditional Coach Works, LTD. in Chatsworth, CA and if I am not mistaken the 240 is the number for both 1975 an 76. You can find many pictures of the Mirages on the internet but you will find many are of the same cars.
The Vehicle is mostly in original unrestored condition with a low mileage of 51175 miles, the last Car Run it was in was five years ago but it has been driven some each summer since then and started a few times during the off season each year but has not been on any major trips lately. It was started and driven out into the sunlight last week, in the snow but vehicle has never been driven on the roads in winter (no salt). Two short videos of the car were taken when outside so you can see it in better light, see it move forward and in reverse and hear it run. You can find the short videos on Facebook, just search Cadillac Mirage.
Barrett Jackson sold one in 2011 for $38, 000+ and one in 2014 for $44, 000. Most of the expensive stuff is all here, dash is not cracked, just needs cleaning and maintenance to get it on the road, and listing at a low opening bid, no reserve beyond that. It has been stored in a machine shed, no winter driving except for a little driving last week in the yard to make a video, no mice in the interior, no chewed or frayed wiring that I could see. It has the 500 Cubic Inch Engine with air conditioning. It runs nice and has a good sound.
It is not perfect but it is rare enough to get noticed at a Car Show or when driving. I checked with the current owner and the bed was like it is now when they bought it, I looked at it closer the other day it had to have been an option or was specially made, it is a liner that is inserted and attached to the inside of the box, if not an original option someone put some serious effort in putting it in as the inside walls of the bed are molded pieces that fit well. The trunk is in the bed of the box, with room enough for a spare, some tools etc. Personally I would leave the bed the way it is and put a cover over it, it is wide enough to be handy, carrying sheet rock etc.
Recent work done on the car will now allow a buyer to buy it, fly to Minot and drive it home. In the late eighties through 2001 I bought and restored a number of cars including one done vehicle that was probably the closest I came to owning a Cadillac, it was a 1957 Crown Imperial 2 dr. hdtp. with its original 392 Hemi, in addition there was a 64 Sport Fury 383 4spd; a 69 340 Swinger with bench seat and 4spd; 70 Challenger RT/SE 440 Magnum with factory air, black with a white soft vinyl top and opera window. The Fury needed paint and an interior, same with the Swinger plus a kit for the shifter, the Challenger needed a steering gear box and I had the front end rebuilt, I bought it with 85, 000 miles and sold it at 140, 000, I had a 74 Charger that had a 360 dropped in it; it needed paint, interior and a 360 torque converter. On all of these cars I would often find business cards stuck under the wiper with a note, call me if you want to sell this car.
This is one of those vehicles that attracts that kind of attention, I am helping a friend; this was her husband's vehicle; one of the things he had for fun. It is a rare vehicle, you've seen pictures but how many have you actually seen. It will do almost anything a pickup will do so it is handy too, you can tell from the pictures it still has good clearance and sits well.
It is priced where it is because of the low mileage, how rare it is, how functional it is; you can buy this now for fun, put a little more into it to do a little more paint and body work and drive it another 75 to 100 thousand miles and still have something rare to sell. If you want to restore it to number 1 condition, the price is still right because the motor doesn't require a rebuild, it is original, the transmission is good, the car is low mileage. the dash is good etc. At this price because of the low mileage you could pretend you're buying a two year old pickup with low mileage at a very reasonable price.
Shipping will be at buyers expense and should be arranged for by buyer if you don't want to drive it home.
Thank you for looking.

“Original Miles 51,175 miles, car runs nice. The passenger side tail light has been put back in along with new trim pieces both sides, There are some bubbles under the paint on the rear quarter panels, more noticeable on the driver side. The metal doesn't feel soft when you tap it with your knuckles. The end gate does need some body work and painting, see photos.” |
