is a very rare and uniquely rebuilt 1936 La Salle hearse, The Final Suit. It started as a stock
La Salle hearse, one of only a few ever made, I chopped it 7 and ½ inches and
added a new engine and transmission. The car was cleaned and repainted inside
and out. The front and rear brakes and master cylinder were rebuilt and stop
the vehicle very well for a stock drum system. The car has been featured in
Rebel Rodz magazine no. 4 2008 and Car Kulture Deluxe no. 28 2008. It was also
featured in a local independent film called “Lion Man”.
The engine
is a 350 Chevy small block with vortech center bolt heads and an RV cam. The
300 horsepower moves this hearse nicely at highway speed and gets about 12mpg. It
is topped with an Edelbrock intake manifold and 600 cfm Edlebrock carburetor.
It has block hugger headers and 2-inch dual exhaust. The transmission is a
rebuilt 700r4 overdrive with a Lokar 23” shifter. As you can see from the
picture above, there are just over 5, 000 miles on the car since the total
rebuild. The driveline was rebuilt to fit. It has an electric speedometer that
is programmable. There is also a complete set of gauges in the panel above the
windshield. The original gauges are still in place in the dash but are not
connected. All of the gauges light up as well as the tachometer mounted in the
skull on the floor. It also has power door locks installed with remote for the
keychain.
Rare
original parts include factory dash and gauges, original hubcaps, original
spare tire, original badges and grill, original handles, and all of the
original trim and chrome. The interior is custom and hand made seats in front
and back, seatbelts for five passengers. The rear seat is removable with a few
simple screws. It has a complete set of casket rollers, but they are not
original to the car. The tires are like new all seasons again with only 5, 000
miles on them. There is no rust or rot on this car, stored in dry conditions
for decades.
This would
make a great rat rod daily driver for anyone who wants to be different. If you
did some body and paintwork to it you would have an amazing hot rod too. As you
can see from the pictures the primer has faded and the bodywork is cracking on the
roof, if it weren’t for this I would be asking for a higher starting bid. I am
only selling this because I have other projects I would like to focus on, so I
am not in a big rush; I feel my price is appropriate for the rare and unique
qualities of this hearse. There is none other like it in existence and it could
be yours!
Shipping is
up to you to organize. A 500-dollar nonrefundable deposit is due at the end of
the auction through PayPal and the remaining amount within a week of sale.
If you win I will send you the signed title priority mail as soon as I have the
funds in my account. I accept payment through PayPal, cash, or cashiers check.
I can store the vehicle until you pick it up, but I would like it picked up
within a month of the sale. If you are buying the vehicle outside of the state
of Oregon, I will keep the vintage Oregon plates and send the car with its new
Oregon plates, which are still present on its title.

for your interest, please email me with any questions you
