Description:

We bought this truck from the original owner in September, 2010. He had purchased it from Clippenger Chevrolet in Covina, California, in late 1964. When we bought it the odometer did not work and was stuck at 199, 999.9. The plastic worm gear had broken when trying to turn over to 200, 000. The owner said it had been broken for several months and guessed he had gone approximately 10-15, 000 miles since it broke. If you do the math, that works out to about 4, 700 miles per year while he owned it (46 years). He said he had the engine rebuilt in 1987. It runs strong and has plenty of torque. Compression in the cylinders as of 1/29/2011: 1)130, 2)130, 3)130, 4)135, 5)135, 6)145. We replaced the odometer with a used one and it read 72, 529 (08/27/2011). It now reads 74, 074 (1, 545 miles in just over 5 years). During those 5 years we have had it painted (original color), re-upholstered (period fabric), new wood bed, re-chromed bumpers and other chrome parts, new wide white-walled Firestone tires, had differential and rear main seal leaks fixed, new alternator, spark plug wires, valve cover gasket, rebuilt carburetor. All gauges work, AM radio works. Turn signals, brake lights, head lights, license plate light, dash lights all work. The original owner had a kill switch installed near the hand brake although we have never tried it to see if it works. It is wired so you can charge your I-pad or cell phone and play Pandora through your phone (see photo). The transmission is also original (3 speed column shift) and shifts flawlessly.
This truck is as near original that you will find. It is rust-free and never been in an accident. The body is dead straight and the inside of the bed is like new; no dings or dents. The original owner did not use it as a 'work' truck so it didn't get any abuse. It was in Southern California until August, 2014, when we moved to St. George, Utah. It was shipped to Utah in an enclosed trailer and has been rarely driven in the last 1 1/2 years. It's registered as an antique vehicle in Utah but still has the original California black & yellow plates on it.
