Untitled Document We’re selling a 1969 Chevrolet Custom 10 half-ton long bed pickup truck with a 350 engine & a TH350 transmission. It’s totally unmolested and is original right down to the hubcaps, bumper guards & air cleaner. Everything is still intact in the interior, even the factory knobs and stock AM radio!
We bought this gem from a farmer with less than 62, 000 miles on the odometer. When asked if that was the actual mileage, the old boy replied with as few words as possible, “What it shows is what’s on it”.
Since then we found a receipt in the glove box, for a professionally installed Goodwrench 350 engine, which documents that the Chevy had only 36, 000 miles in 2004. Because it was a farm truck, it appears that it was sheltered from normal high mileage use. But somewhere along the line the original engine was replaced; most likely from an overheating problem, as the cooling system has been renewed as well.
The pickup has been well maintained, runs great (with outstanding oil pressure) & is very reliable. It has the original paint with a few dings & dents in the body, but nothing major. The tailgate closes well, but since it was used in farm chores, you can see a slight bow in it when viewed from the top.
Rust damage is minimal & is limited to three areas: The passenger’s cab corner, both rocker panels, and the right kick panel (see photos). New replacement pieces are available from Classic Industries (and other suppliers) for about $15.00 each.
Overall this old Chevy is super cool and puts a smile on your face just to look at it. It’s good to use as-is, but most car guys will recognize that it’s an ideal candidate for restoration. So we’re hoping that someone will put some love into this classic…and make a show truck out of it!
